March 11, 2018 by WendyB

In case you missed it, here’s what’s been on the blog recently.

  • Monday, Feb. 26: Treat me like a rattlesnake.
  • Tuesday, Feb. 27: Rihanna kicked off the big-dress trend, and Dua Lipa dove in.
  • Wednesday, Feb. 28: My website got a redesign.

  • Thursday, March 1: Adventures with Poodle.
  • Saturday, March 3: Flashback to the 2007 Independent Spirit Awards.
  • Sunday, March 4: My Oscar gown archives, Parts I, II, III, and IV.
  • Monday, March 5: My Best Dressed/Wear  What You Want award for the 2018 Oscars goes to …
    • Tuesday, March 6: Talking about snake tiaras and gender-neutral wedding jewelry with Engagement 101.

    • Wednesday, March 7: Mangagement rings and other nontraditional jewelry.
    • Thursday, March 8: The only good thing the New York Times has done recently is start catching up on women’s obituaries it should have published decades ago.

Over on Instagram, I’m celebrating Women’s History Month. Shirley Chisholm was the first African American congresswoman and the first woman to run for the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination. As her campaign poster said, she was unbought and unbossed. I wish she were here with us now, because not many people can say that these days.

Today for #WomensHistoryMonth, we are thinking of trailblazer Shirley Chisholm, the first African American woman to run for president for a major political party. This powerhouse was the first African American congresswoman, the first woman to run for the Democratic Party's presidential nomination; she founded the Congressional Black Caucus to represent black members of Congress. To read about this icon in the fight for diversity and equality, follow the #IKnowNow hashtag started by Ky Ekinci. We've got a few favorite "Chisholm-isms," with one of her best-known being, "If they don't give you a seat at the table, bring a folding chair." #HERstory ⠀ -⠀ -⠀ -⠀ #politics #activism #activist #imwithher #unboughtandunbossed #seatatthetable ⠀ -⠀ Biography and image source: BBC News.
