What the Bride Wore: Sequins and a Big Smile

December 14, 2010 by WendyB

Our friends Dick and Janice got married Sunday in a lovely ceremony. They read Rumi and Shakespeare to each other, causing me to jab MrB in his side and hiss, “You didn’t read any poetry to me.”

Janice looked so glamorous. I was amazed to learn she was wearing J. Crew from head to toe: a gold sequined dress (from the J. Crew Collection), two necklaces, belt and oxfords.A  I missed shooting the shoes but I got everything else.

Big smiles!

I like how Dick’s tie complements Janice’s gown. Very elegant.

I wore a pinkish-lavender tweed dress by Zang Toi that I last wore on Dec. 31, 2006. I was saving its next outing for a special occasion.

What Wendy Wore
Dress: Zang Toi (2006)
Purse: Tom Ford-era Gucci bag (2004?)
Shoes: Falling-apart Louis Vuittons (2004?)
Earrings: My own Cleopatra design
Lip color: Rebel by MAC

Congrats to the happy couple!

This isn’t going to surprise you, I am a fan of JCrew bridal. But I am a fan of Jcrew in general. Love her dress and the adding of a belt is brilliant! Best wishes and congrats to the gorgeous couple.
p.s. What a gorgeous taste in wedding guests that they have!;-)

I love a bride in gold! She looks fabulous, and so do you!

I would have jabbed and hissed about the Shakespeare and Rumi, too. I can only get M. to read me Shel Silverstein.

The bride and groom looked really wonderful and happy. Right that done how wow did you look, I thinking maybe you should be off wedding guest lists (only joking). Ok the earrings stole the show but you set me off reminiscing on Tom Ford’s bag designs for Gucci – his reign was my favourite era. Love the dress.

did you gathe I’d reached my tipping point ref the other day!!

Congrats to the happy couple! They look absolutely radiant in that photo.

I love the pink tweed Zang Toi gown. It’s pastel-y and wedding-appropriate but wintery because of the slightly heavier fabric. It seems like the perfect dress to wear to a winter wedding.

Oh, my crow heart is soaring – all that sparkle! Caw! I love the gold outfit (and his tie!), but you, Ms. Wendy, you are just fab. Would you ever do a skinny belt with this dress?

I don’t get along well with belts. I fuss with them. But you’re right, it would be a nice look!

Although I’m fairly certain that I will wear a traditional gown when I get married some day, I am such a fan of brides wearing whatever the heck they want. Janice’s dress isn’t white and long and worn with a veil, but it’s so festive and perfect for the occasion! Bonus- she can definitely wear it again. Bravo.

And of course, you look fantastic in your Zang Toi, as always! I like the little something extra in the hem.

p.s. My word verification for this comment is “icanhaz.” Best ever.
