Giggity Giggity GigaPan

November 20, 2008 by WendyB

Worried you’re not wasting enough time online? I’ve got the solution. GigaPan is a website where people share extremely hi-res (gigapixel!) panoramic photos. You can see people’s photos from all over the world.

It’s the gigapixel aspect that makes this more exciting than Flickr and other photo-sharing sites. For example, click here to see GeorgeB’s gigaphotos. Select his New York skyline photo. Now click the thumbnail “snapshot” with the boat in it and see how you can zoom in so closely that you can read the writing on the boat! Amazing, right?

For a different kind of giga-experience, here’s Family Guy‘s Quagmire and his catchphrase:

Giggity!

UPDATED TO ADD: I just noticed that a lot of my favorite Family Guy clips are suddenly on YouTube. I was desperately searching for this one while writing my WWII post.

“You suck! You suck!”

Stewie’s “Where’s my money?” attack on Brian is MrB’s fave.

“Don’t make a fool out of me, man!”

And I’ve become fascinated by “Cool Hwip” thanks to this one.

“You’re eating hair!”

Wow, makes me feel like I’m on a cop show, “can you zoom in and enhance that license plate?” Very cool.

But second favorite online time waster (after Polyvore) is GoogleMaps. (Yes, I’m a nerd.)

Cool app! I can waste even more time finding live webcam broadcasts of Paris. So I can sit and watch twilight fall on rue Rivoli. But I will also watch an African savannah and a Scottish farm yard.
