Jackets, Jackets, Jackets

December 3, 2012 by WendyB

Thank you for all the input on The Turquoise Leather Jacket, especially for the names of the other jacket designers! I’m going to look into those. I’m not 100% sure, but I’ll most likely return the jacket to Bergdorf Goodman. I’d still like to first speak to someone at Kelly Wearstler, the designer of the jacket, because I’d like to be sure that someone there is looking at the same streaky color that I am when we’re talking about distressed leather. Inquiring minds want to know! I’m working on getting in touch.

Meanwhile, let’s watch a few clips from “The Jacket” episode of Seinfeld.

  • “Don’t tell me you paid $700 for this jacket!”
  • “I paid what it costs.”

Adrien Brody and Keira Knightley starred in a creepy movie called The Jacket.

In addition to my high-school friend Jim’s turquoise motorcycle jacket, I’ve also coveted an Ian Curtis-worthy “Hate” jacket. You can see what I’m talking about at :08 in this trailer from Control, a movie about Curtis’s band Joy Division.

Well, now-12-year-old Willow Smith beat me to it back in October.

Go on with your bad self, Willow!

I’m so glad you’re sending it back.
It would’ve been forever tainted… and that in no way looked like acceptable distressing. It looked like it had been squished on a rack in the sun for a year and faded on the top edges. Not a good look.

Control — great movie. The Jacket — not so much, but I think you wanted an excuse to post something with Brody! <3

    anti-spam = romance (appropriate!)

I hope you find what you’re looking for! And for some answers too.

The Jacket was scary, but gazing upon A. Brody for 90 minutes made it all better.

I think I told you before, but Schott is the classic, they came up with the asymmetrical motorcycle style and are still going strong. I want a pink one!! Or maybe GREEN! I agree, write to KW, and see what’s up that looked to me like a sub-par hide and something you would expect at a sample sale or outlet! Good luck! XXX

PS Schott’s wear like iron, mine from over 30 years ago is still going strong as is Dan’s. Bonus: zombies can’t eat through that tough leather! XXX

I would love to find a Schott in turquoise but so far no luck!

I have a gorgeous red leather jacket that I bought in NYC years ago… I just need to slim down so I can get back into it. It WILL happen….
