What Wendy Wore: Independence Day Weekend

July 5, 2011 by WendyB

I hope all my U.S. readers had a lovely 4th of July weekend. We visited some friends who live on a lake. For a party on Saturday night, I wore a Pucci-esque Versace dress that I’ve had since 2002 or 2003. Here’s how it looked in early 2003.

Click for previous post on this dress.

Here’s how it looked this weekend.

What Wendy Wore
Dress: Versace (2002 or 2003)
Shoes: Prada (2011)
Necklace: My own Gloriana design

I shared the first photo in a 2008 post I did on Versace. I’ve left a link to that post in the comments of a number of blogs that criticized Versace as unwearable. I wonder if any of those critical bloggers are among the ones now dancing jigs over Versace’s coming H&M line. I wouldn’t be surprised.

On Sunday night, I wore the Castelbajac sailor outfit that I got last year. Here’s how it looked last year.

Here’s how it looked on Sunday.

What Wendy Wore
Top: Castelbajac (2010)
Pants: Castelbajac (2010)
Shoes: Prada (2011)
Ring: My own Juana design

On a totally unrelated note, today I’m starting work on my website to increase the prices of all gold jewelry, as I’ve been warning you I would. You have about 24 hours to try to get some last-minute deals, so buy now or forever kick yourself!

Beautiful Wendy…as always !! Last year, this year, 3 years ago, 26 years ago….always beautiful !! With some…”the clothes make the man (or woman)”; with you…”you make the clothes” !!

AND everything still fits you year after year! You look great natch. I love that Versace dress. I should stop buying crap and start purchasing only good things. I waste so much money on nonsense.

I love when you show how you wore something before, proof that fashion can be a true investment. And how is it that you look younger as the years go by? Are you a vampire?

I have the widest smile on my face, what a great post and argument against the Primark throwaway fashion mentality.

Your hair is getting so long! I love it. But that’s not what I want to comment on.

I love how you just know which clothes to hold onto, and how you wear them in new contexts, keeping them current.

You look great in both outfits! I think you’re slimmer than last year: evidence the sailor pant outfit.

I’ve never seen you personally in short hair but I like your hair in the first picture. Not only are you ageless but you can wear your hair anyway you want.

    Happy Independence Day!
