Punk Glam Princess Is Effortlessly Chic

December 27, 2009 by WendyB

I never thought I’d be taking style tips from a 10-year-old, but that was before I met gorgeous blogger Suzanne‘s daughter, the Punk Glam Princess. When I met up with Suzanne and the Princess for Bellinis and ginger ale at Cipriani Dolci, Suzanne was wearing her new swear rings, as I hoped/expected. More surprisingly, the Punk Glam Princess was wearing a Day-Glo pink troll wig as a hat. I loved it. Gorgeous blogger ENC has often extolled the virtues of wighats but this was the first time I’d seen one worn with such aplomb. Also, I realized the genius of wighats is … no hat hair!

The Princess paired her wighat with a leopard coat and a nonchalant expression that most kids can only dream of, even when they’re not wearing a pink wighat.A  The phrase that comes to mind is “effortlessly chic.” Let it be noted that the Princess is the first person upon whom I’ve been willing to bestow those words.

Suzanne’s appreciation of ’80s vintage inspires me in the jacket department, so I was wearing my Day-Glo orange Stephen Sprouse jacket. Suzanne took a picture of all the neon.

Click us to see the Princess's leopard coat.

Not only is the Princess cute, she’s well-behaved, too. That was kind of disappointing because I didn’t get to yell at her once. Way to spoil my fun, Princess!

What a disappointing kid: good manners, good taste, no attitude. 😉

She looks superb in her wighat, and I love you in that orange jacket! I just love it when people have the guts to really wear bright colors and do it with abandon.

Such a sweet post, thank you! PGP is going to flip when she sees it in the morning! BTW, you will have plenty of time to yell at her when she gets in a snit! (But she’s still the best kid anyone could want!)

Damn…don’t you hate being upstaged by a too chic 10 year old? I would have to have had the bellinis BEFORE I went out in public in a pink wighat! But, maybe that’s just me coming up with yet another excuse to drink!

I’ve never even heard the term wighat. I’m so far behind. The Princess is quite adorable. Effortlessly chic, indeed!

What a funky wighat! And the little girl is adorable! My friends had a “Funky Wigs and Hats” girls night out, where they wore similar wigs. One of them was electric blue. I’m so bummed I missed out on that one :O( But if they do it again, I’m on the lookout for a punky, pink wig :O)

It’s not what you wear, but HOW you wear it. She’s got attitude! I’m also happy to see some neon colors. During the summer, it was seen on the runways for an “it” color for winter and it’s been rare to see in the streets or in blogland.

Damn. I totally didn’t possess the inherent style to rock a punk wig when I was a wee one.
