The One Where I Get a Hand Job

June 9, 2009 by WendyB

I had to have minor surgery on my left hand to remove a weird bump. The bump was near my middle finger, but the doctor says it should not affect my ability to flip people off.

Things are not as bad as they appear.

I wrote a few posts in advance so blogging won’t be too slowed down, but I might not be commenting on your blogs as much as usual for a couple of days. To console you, I was going to provide a musical interlude featuring Eric “Slow Hand” Clapton but I decided this was so much more fabulous … ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Conway Twitty!

Tomorrow’s post will be on my new blog instead of here.

    Ooh, heal up quickly!

Conway Twitter–typo but I'm keeping it!!–had Twitty City near Nashville which was bought by a Christian TV station and renamed Trinity City. But the gate still has "Hello Darlin" spelled out in brick. 🙂 Fun fact.

OMG! It looks scary. Now I'm going to be good and wear my carpal tunnel wrist brace so I don't need to have people cut me.

Are you getting lots of dog therapy?

All that apparatus should really *improve* your ability to flip people off, by upping your hand visibility.

Genuinely relieved to hear your "birding" capabilities are still 100%. Make sure to ask your physical therapist for extra middle-finger-strengthening exercises.

Call me cruel, but hoping for a "WendyB on pain meds" post or two… (I don't wish you pain, mind you, just pain meds.)

Poochie, if by dog therapy you mean, "Did Gigi projectile vomit all over the house last night" the answer is yes.

"You know, as soon as I saw the post title on bloglovin I knew it was from your blog ;)" — Ha ha! Good to know my reputation is intact, DaisyChain.

Bex, from the IV. Makes for a dramatic picture, doesn't it?

123Val, they wrote on the arm that they were operating on so there was no confusion but maybe I should make it permanent bc your interpretation is better.

Thanks to all other peeps! Harder to type today than yesterday so I can't thank you all individually.

Ayyyyy- best wishes for a speedy recovery! BTW, my cousin is a hand surgeon. I never knew you could specialize in such things. Must be a delicate specialty, though! Her husband, a once-semi-professional BMX biker, got into a bad accident while trying to relive the glory days in a local park. She nearly had to operate on his hand, which made her very nervous indeed. Glad to see your thumbs are still operational on Twitter 😉
