Get Out Your 2010 Calendar

January 21, 2009 by WendyB

Good grief! We forgot to observe Squirrel Appreciation Day yesterday. Order your Wendy Brandes squirrel necklace in gold or silver now, so that you will be better prepared next year.

This lovely young lady is already enjoying her squirrel necklace.

Hey, baby!

Another young lady who loves her squirrel necklace is gorgeous blogger and client Lisa. Lisa ordered hers from my website and, after she received it, she emailed me to say how amazed she was that the design was 3D — perfectly finished on both sides rather than just pressed into the metal on one side. That’s the kind of quality you get when you buy Wendy Brandes jewelry. I make the pieces for my namesake collection just a few at a time here in New York City; they’re not stamped out cheaply by the hundreds or thousands in an overseas factory. I myself review each piece (not each design — each PIECE) to make sure it’s something I personally would wear, and I have seriously high standards for what I wear.

Here are some other 3D designs of mine:

  • The Matilda Necklace — a sword that pulls out of its scabbard — is engraved and set on both sides. That means two rose-cut diamonds and four blue sapphires per necklace.

  • The Oak Leaf Necklace has a distinct front and back, just like a real leaf. I made it in silver, but you can also order in in 18K white, rose or yellow gold.

  • The Isabella Wolf-Fang Necklace in silver or gold is not only finished on both sides, but when you look at it head-on, you’ll see tiny nostrils on the snout. That level of detail makes this one of my favorite designs. This piece also has major heft. People are always surprised by the weight when they pick it up because they’re used to lightweight, inexpensively made jewelry. When you buy the Isabella, you’re getting a lot for your money. To me, the solidity of the piece gives it a private, subtle luxuriousness.

Another hefty (but non-3D) piece is the Diana Ring. Look how nice it looks on the hand of gorgeous blogger/client Susanna! If you want more information on the Diana or any of my pieces, email me at wbjewelry at hotmail dot com.

I love all of your poison rings. When I’m done with my closet overhaul I am going to start saving to get me one. They are so amazing and I love how they have little stories behind them. =) Definitely much better than mass produced crap with no inspiration behind them.

That’s it, I’m going to stop buying shoes and save up for one of your pieces. That is my quarterly goal for 2009. I will have a Wendy B piece if I have to starve first. Pray that the Aussie dollar gains on yours so this goal can be achieved quicker.

Happy belated Squirrel Appreciation Day! =)

P.S. Another perk of the 3D squirrel: I’m right-handed and I get annoyed when the clasp for a necklace has to be done up on the left-hand side for the pendant to be facing forward properly. There is no fumbling with the 3D squirrel as regardless of whether you’re right- or left-handed, the squirrel side is always facing up. 😀

P.P.S. I’m still really loving my squirrel, in case you couldn’t tell.

I know how brilliant the three-dimensional detail is on that Matilda necklace. I tried to abscond with it one night, after wearing it to a party. I fiddled with it all night.

Unfortunately for me, when I made for the door at the end of the night, Miss WendyB stopped me, threatening to pinch me into oblivion. Not wanting to die that horrible death, I handed the necklace back to her, but only grudgingly so.

You’re right Wendy, its just so sad when you know a relationship HAS to dissolve 🙁

It is very admirable for you to inspect each piece off your line. It just shows how immaculate you are and how you really belive in your designs and products. Out of the three that you’ve shown my favourite is the wolf fang necklace also. Its so unique and the detailing you mention elevates it above all the rest.
