I kind of like this.
Maybe it’s just because I have suits on my mind. It’s a suit in a way, isn’t it? It’s available for 81 pounds, down from 162 pounds, on my-wardrobe.com.
After all my suit talk, I decided to wear one of my old ones to a semi-serious event I had last night. It has a corset-style jacket and a pencil skirt that is so tight I was scandalized that I ever wore it to work. I felt good until the post-event photo shoot.
I clearly need a new photographer. My husband seems to have a special talent for cutting off the top of my head while including random wall vents. And after seeing the photo, I felt a lot dowdier than I did during the evening. I think I’ll take up the skirt very slightly and then wear the pieces separately. When you can see all the details, the jacket is quite spectacular. I swear!
UPDATED TO ADD: I knew that the Biba outfit spoke to me for a reason. Check out the matching dress/leggings outfit in ’80s singer Stacey Q’s Two of Hearts video (it first appears about 50 seconds in). Awesome sunglasses and earrings too.
Get it wear one of your awesome suit jackets over it!
Your blog is perfect for The Vom Squad.

I love that suit and the jacket looks great. Maybe your husband has a secret fondness for air vents?
Here’s the link 🙂

You need that Biba outfit. I can’t see you looking dowdy ever, by the way. I can’t tell what shoes you’re wearing. Are they silver? Python? And what ring on your right hand?
ENC, those are silver Prada wedges from a few years ago. I wore them in Milan last February and everyone was taking photos of them (not me, just the shoes) outside the fashion shows. I was half-expecting Prada to innocently knock off their own not-quite-vintage shoes. The ring is a one-off that is my personal piece. I’ll see if I can find a photo of it. It’s pretty funny….it looks a little bit like a square sunnyside-up egg done in diamonds.
I don’t think the outfit was dowdy, but I can see what you mean about taking the skirt up a couple.
I had, some years ago, an Ungaro suit that never felt quite right, because the waist of the skirt was quite high and the length below-knee. I then had the skirt lopped off indiscriminately, and it came out much too short. The same fate befell a Betsey Johnson dress that ended up having to be worn as a halter top.
The shoes are brillo; maybe you can give us a photo of those? And I hope you do find the photo of the ring, because I’d like to see it!
SM, that might be the worst tailoring catastrophe I’ve ever heard of!
I <3 the jacket...
