Ossie’s Back!

November 2, 2007 by WendyB

I am thrilled that the Ossie Clark label is going to be revived at last! I know the guy who held the rights to the name and he was trying to get something going for long time. But he wanted something high quality, and someone who would respect the label. None of the Topshop/H&M stuff. Looks like he found the right people!

Now I won’t be as aggravated to see Celia Birtwell, Ossie’s ex, knocking off his designs out of crap materal for Topshop. On the other hand, it kind of devalues my investment in my large collection of vintage Ossie, doesn’t it!

For my big post on Ossie, with photos of some of the Ossie dresses I own, click here. For all posts that mention Ossie, click here.

Here I am wearing an Ossie Clark halter dress (and a lot of double-stick tape) in 2003. That’s Gigi the dog lurking at my feet.

Gigi was determined to get in a picture.

I think she wanted to show off her pink ribbons. Sigh. We both look so young there. Gigi has a lot of gray hair now! She needs a colorist so she can go back to being a Bergdorf Blonde.

Great dress. And, those shoes! Nothing can hold you back in a dress like that—not even the tape 😉 You look fierce.

Slightly off topic, but I loved that book (Bergdorf Blondes). Have you read the Debutante Divorce?? They are on my booklist of non-academic delights

    Hi Wendy
    You look fantastic!!!
You dont look older at all.
I seriously need classes on Hollywood tape.I was a big mess when I wore tape under a dress.I know the tape I got was the original but it just would not stick to my skin or the dress.

@ Riz, I think the closest I got to either book was reading excerpts in Vogue! Never bought either. @VintageBunny, sometimes I have a good time with the tape, sometimes bad. It’s really hard to predict! The important thing is to give yourself enough time. If you’re rushing around getting dressed and have to run out the door, it never comes out well. @ Other peeps, thank you for your kind words! In some of my other Ossie-mentioning posts you see me wearing a ivory halter dress with a multicolored print on it…that’s the same dress as the black one.

I can see why you’re an Ossie fan–I enjoyed the link to the other post, too. The fabrics drape in a sexy, alluring way, don’t they? How old is Gigi? Duncan, our darling miniature dachshund, turned 14 last Sunday–he’s extremely in need of some rusty red touch-up color!

  25. WendyB says

    November 4, 2007 at 1:25 pm

We have never been sure of how old Gigi was when we got her, but I would guess she’s about 6 now. Henry is probably about 4. The problem with preowned dogs is you never know exactly how old they are until you saw them in half and count the rings. Or am I thinking about trees? 😉
