My Best Dressed at the 2019 Grammys Is …

February 11, 2019 by WendyB

Do I even need to write this post? Surely, you already know that my beloved Cardi B, who hit the red carpet in fall/winter 1995 couture Mugler, is the winner of my prestigious Best Dressed/Wear What You Want combo award for the 2019 Grammys.

While that was her most jaw-dropping vintage Mugler of the night, it wasn’t her last. She performed “Money” in another 1995 Mugler …

… and accepted the award for best rap album for Invasion of Privacy in spring 1997 Mugler.

Shout out to Cardi’s stylist Kollin Carter, who has been an amazing collaborator for her. I was expecting Cardi to have the look of the night, yet Kollin’s finds for her still exceeded my expectations. (Cardi’s ability to carry off anything he found for her was never in doubt!)

Of course, the more important issue is that — believe it or not — Cardi is the first solo woman to win in this category. (In 1997, Lauryn Hill won as part of her group, Fugees.) It’s about fucking time! I’m all about female voices in rap, as well as everywhere else.

Breathtaking!!! I think CardiB and the background (gramophone; I get it) images bring more to the gown than the Mugler model linked. It’s a gorgeous gown…and this may be the fullest embodiment of its complete gorgeosity 💗 💗 💗 💗 💗
