I’m thrilled to let y’all know that I was a finalist in the 2013 JCK Jewelers’ Choice Awards competition!
My Empress Wu dragon earrings placed third in the Pearl Jewelry/Over $10,000 category.
JCK publishes JCK magazine, the jewelry industry’s leading trade publication. (Here’s an interview JCK did with me last year.) The company also produces and manages industry shows and events. The Jeweler’s Choice Awards — now in their sixth year — is the industry’s biggest retailer-determined design competition. JCK’s website says, “Jewelers’ Choice continues to challenge designers and manufacturers to create innovative and salable pieces and to offer retailers the opportunity to vote on their favorites.” Now, my line isn’t carried in big, nationwide retailers yet, so I’m amazed and honored that retailers voted for an emerging designer.
I also got good news last month from gorgeous blogger DisneyRollerGirl, who spotted my sterling-silver Memento Mori skull earrings in the grunge-inspired “Come As You Are” editorial in the March issue of British Vogue. It took me a little while to get my hands on a copy, but I finally did. It’s in quite a few photos, and you can seen it best in this one. It’s the dangling one in the lobe, closest to the model’s face.
You can buy the silver skull earrings for $375 on my website.
Or, if you’re in the Los Angeles area, stop by Broken English Jewelry in the Brentwood Country Mart (the shopping center where Oscar-winner Ben Affleck recently had a run-in with paparazzi) and try on the 18K gold version. You can also buy these from Broken English’s website.
I try not to play favorites with my jewelry designs, but I have to confess I’m awfully fond of the version with ruby eyes.
If you have any questions about the earrings, I’m happy to help you. Holla at me at wbjewelry at hotmail dot com. And thanks again to JCK and its award voters, British Vogue … and the eagle-eyed DisneyRollerGirl!
