My Best Dressed at the Oscars: Naomi Watts

February 24, 2013 by WendyB

I saw lots of very lovely, appropriate dresses on the Oscar red carpet tonight. (I’ll include Anne Hathaway, whose “nipples” are actually — I think — darts in her Prada dress.) Like the Golden Globes, there was nothing crazy enough to warrant one of my coveted Best Dressed/Wear What You Want combo awards; Helena Bonham Carter is in the Hall of Fame already, so she doesn’t count. I’ll just bestow a regular Best Dressed award to Naomi Watts in Armani Prive.

Love the asymmetry and the perfect fit. I’d be happy to wear this one myself … though I’d go with a different color.

Maybe I have to invent a “Way to Be Sex-ay, Girl!” award for Salma Hayek. Her Alexander McQueen gown proves you can show off your figure without baring your breasts. I particularly appreciate it because I’ve seen way too much artificial-looking boobage in the couple of days I’ve been in Los Angeles. Also that updo … is there a tiara in there? A ribbon? Whatever it is, I like it.

In other hair news, E! television host Giuliana Rancic is “Most Improved” for getting rid of those gross, Real-Housewives-style extensions and going natural.

How refreshing! I certainly appreciate a good hair piece — like a faux-ny tail — for a special event, photoshoot, fashion show, or stage performance. But I see too many girls and women going to school and work with blatantly fake-looking hair hanging down to their asses, as if a reality-television crew is going to start filming them at any moment. It ain’t pretty, and I’m drawing the line. Stop it!

I agree with your choices! There were quite a few meh frocks to be seen for reals. AND the fake boobage is comical. Yuck.

I thought Salma looked not only sexy, but classy too. Not an easy thing to accomplish! XXX

Omg woman, we have the same taste in gowns. My fave looks are Naomi’s and Salma’s!

And what was the Housewife Brandi Glanville wearing? Can you imagine the wardrobe malfunction that would have ensued if she sneezed? Heck, she probably wanted that to happen.

I agree with Naomi as one of the few people who actually took a chance sartorially and didn’t go neutral bridal gown (seriously, Jennifer Lawrence just needed a veil). I would like a better look at HBC’s crazy outfit – I think she may have been wearing Fluevogs!

Anne’s gown reminded me of the year Gwynneth won for “Shakespeare in Love” and she did that hideous pink thing that made her boobs look like sad water balloons. Anne’s dress was wearing *her*.

Housewives hair! Ha! Totes agree that Giuliana made a change for the better. Was really hoping for a story of you meeting Brandi Glanville!! 🙂

I would have screamed, “TINA SAYS SHUT THE FUCK UP!” and run away.

I love Giuliana’s more natural look. She often looks really fakey and plastic, but her shorter hair is soo much lighter and refreshing.

Admittedly, my favorite dress was Jennifer Aniston’s. Beautiful red Valentino! Though I wish somebody (*cough*Anne Hathaway*coughcough*) had worn it instead. It would have made a much better punch on somebody with darker hair imo. Check the runway model of it: http://www.style.com/fashionshows/complete/slideshow/S2013CTR-VALENTIN/#36

Very pretty indeed but I wouldn’t want to wear it 😉
Not exciting enough for me! Naomi’s on the other hand…that I would wear!
