Yoko Ono’s Gun-Control Billboard From 2000

December 14, 2012 by WendyB

In 2000, Yoko Ono paid for this gun-control billboard showing her late husband John Lennon’s blood-stained glasses.

I’m appalled by the number of gun-related tragedies that have occurred since then.

YES. Thank you. I’m appalled by how many people I’m seeing on Facebook “wondering” how we can make this stop. Time to get our heads out of the sand!!!

Thanks for this. Seeing John’s glasses makes me so sad and angry.

What a sad billboard and even more sad that nothing has really changed preventing things like today and John Lennon’s death from happening. Thank you for posting this.

What a horrible week it has been. Young innocent children’s lives taken by violence.

I know. Kristof’s NY Times column today has this quote from a facebook follower: “it is more difficult to adopt a pet than it is to buy a gun.”

Seriously, one time a pound wouldn’t let my friend adopt a cat because she was a single woman living in a small apartment in NYC. In other words, the kind of person who stereotypically adopts a cat! She had to buy one from a pet store instead.

What I love best about you (besides your great style, good looks and talent) is that you have substance. Thank you for acknowledging this tragedy in such an eloquent and succinct way. My thoughts and prayers are with the community that is affected by this terrible loss.
