In Love With Vintage Todd Oldham Beaded Boots

August 20, 2012 by WendyB

I’ve always been fond of 1990s fashion designer Todd Oldham, and I’ve acquired a number of his pieces, including this tie-dyed velvet skirt.

You know what would be a great addition to my Oldham collection? These beaded boots, available from vintage dealer Marilyn Glass via 1stdibs.com.

I’m in love.

As much as I like Todd, my all-time favorite vintage designer is Ossie Clark, whose heyday was in the 1960s and 1970s. Here’s a 2011 photo of one of my frequently worn Ossie dresses.

Here’s the same dress in 2005.

I wore this to a Marc Jacobs fashion show in February 2005.

When I got done browsing the Todd Oldham selection on 1stdibs.com, I spotted this to-die-for Ossie top.

The print by Celia Birtwell is similar to the one in the Ossie top that I wore this Mother’s Day …

… but there’s even more going on in the 1stdibs.com top. No wonder I never know how to describe my personal style. My normal uniform of jeans and a t-shirt says minimalist, but Ossie and Todd scream anything but!

I’m imagining what those boots would sound like when you walk. Clinky beady goodness! I really hope you find them, buy them, and make a video so we can hear them!

I think of your personal style as fitting the mood you’re in: minimalist when you’re down to business and maximalist when it’s time to play!
