Who Says I’m Hard to Shop For?

December 19, 2009 by WendyB

My birthday is on December 23 and I was excited to tell y’all exactly what I wanted: a metal eye patch like the one worn by Alexander Skarsgard in Lady Gaga‘s Paparazzi video. It was listed for only $102 at Not Just a Label.

Unfortunately, someone bought the eye patch before I could post about it. I hope I’m the intended recipient. If not, I’m going to have to rethink my whole outfit for the Gaga concert I’m going to at Radio City Music Hall next month. That would be upsetting. I’m already traumatized from rewatching Paparazzi and seeing Gaga wear rings that spell out “DIOR” and a non-WendyB poison ring. It’s hard for me to deal with the fact that a goddess like Gaga made those jewelry mistakes. I’m going to blame it on bad advisers or temporary insanity. Regardless, I will be wearing special jewelry to the Gaga concert. You’ll see it that night.

Those of you who do have to rethink your birthday gift plan should look into getting me a Barbie-turned-Gaga doll with a handmade costume. I love the tiny plasticine version of the Castelbajac Kermit coat.

Thank you to gorgeous blogger Catie from Cuffington for pointing out the dolls.

If, for some strange reason, you’re looking to get yourself a gift instead of me, avoid making jewelry mistakes like Lady Gaga (who is otherwise perfect in all ways) and buy my infinitely-superior-to-Dior swear rings here and my Borgia poison ring here.

UPDATED TO ADD: Gorgeous blogger and shoe guru Princess Poochie was also browsing the Gaga-curated items at Not Just a Label and bought a fierce spiked headband. You can see Poochie here wearing her Wendy Brandes swear rings. She’s so fashion-forward that she was the first person to buy a set.

UPDATED AGAIN TO ADD: In the first week of January —Ā  weeks after Catie spotted the Gaga dolls — a bunch of other blogs started reporting on them. Catie is 3008 and the other blogs are 2000 and late! Joonbug did the only post worth reading. Its December 31 interview with Veik, the doll designer, is much more interesting than the other “OMG YOU GUYS I DISCOVERED THESE AWESOME DOLLS!” posts.

The eye patch totally belongs to you. The designer needs to make a special WB edition for you, if it was tragically sold to a lesser being. Of course, then you would need to wear it to your next black tie event, but I have a feeling that was already your plan. If they make a third fabulous Anodized aluminum eye patch I call dips, especially if Alex touches it first.

I reckon Gaga wore that jewellery because she was subconsciously trying to emulate you. She probably doesn’t know wbjewelery exists yet. Make sure she finds out!
