Your Wedding Wish Is My Command. Now Vote!

September 29, 2009 by WendyB

Last week, I mentioned that at my 2001 wedding, I changed out of my Richard Tyler wedding gown and into a custom-made white leather halter top and hip-huggers. A few of you requested pictures. Here they are.

Dancing in my Tyler gown and tiara.

Dancing in my Tyler gown and tiara.

Another view of the gown, but more importantly, the cake!

Another view of the gown and, more importantly, the cake!

I changed into leather but kept the tiara.

I changed into leather but kept the tiara.

I thought I was being pretty edgy with the leather at the time, but the gown is so conservative, isn’t it? I was striving for something “timeless” and “elegant” and blah blah blah. Pretty but boring. Nowadays, I would just go crazy. Maybe a rainbow-striped gown with a giant hoop skirt. There would have to be a whole bunch of midgets under the hoop skirt, of course. I’d have the midgets jump out and throw glitter at everyone after the kiss. Now THAT’S occasion dressing!

Anyway, now that I’ve done what you asked and shared these photos, you can do a little something for me. Hey, there’s no such thing as a free lunch here! If you haven’t done it already, click here to give my photo five hearts so I can be a winner in the Independent Fashion Bloggers Dress-Up Contest. Need more reasons to vote for me? Read yesterday’s post.

UPDATED TO ADD: My cake was by Ron Ben-Israel.  He later recreated it in a different color scheme for Modern Bride magazine. I think my version is superior.

I was so enthralled with the tiara, the dress, and the leathuh that somehow I COMPLETELY missed seeing the cake, and so I had to scroll back up once I read all the comments. Amazing!

What a payoff. I have never seen you in either one of your wedding costumes, and this is the best wedding imagery I’ve seen in a long, long time. It certainly beats my wedding picture, hands down.

You were incredibly beautiful. The white leather pants/halter are a great wild counterpoint to the timeless/elegant look of the Richard Tyler gown.
