Dressing Up for Robin Hood

May 12, 2009 by WendyB

Last night, we went to a fundraiser for Robin Hood, which is an awesome organization that fights poverty in New York. One hundred percent of the money donated goes directly to people in need because Robin Hood’s Board of Directors underwrites all fund-raising and administrative expenses. Jon Stewart hosted the evening and the Black Eyed Peas performed. I’m a big Fergie fan.

The Peas
Fergie and back-up dancers

I wore a sheer vintage dress over a vintage navy-blue slip. I got the dress from Decades in 2007. This is the first time I wore it because it took me a long time to get the slip.
Worth the wait?

It was a little cool out, so I wore a beautiful jacket by my designer friend Zang Toi over the dress.

In a cab, with another cab in the background.

Gigi the dog thought my outfit was delicious.

Slurp!

Speaking of Zang, he’s having a sample sale today and I’ll be there showing some of my jewelry! If you’re in NYC and would like to go, contact me ASAP at wbjewelry at hotmail dot com and I’ll send you the information.

UPDATED TO ADD: Here’s the New York Times story on the Robin Hood event. It reminded me that I failed to mention that Aretha Franklin also performed! I think I was so distraught that her inauguration hat didn’t show up to the event that I just blocked that part of the evening out.

I’m a Fergie fan too. I saw her live once, she was wearing the most ugly thing ever. It kind of adds to her character though that she can’t dress.

That dress is so gorgeous! One of my favourites on you… now I can’t wait to see the June one Bex mentioned!

I am so with you on the slip thing though, I reaaally need to bung a few of my dresses into a handbag and go try on some slips. It’s something you leave so long because you have to try them on with other stuff…

I’m just wondering how big your evening outfits closet has to be though, to accomodate all these amazing dresses

  22. Tina says

Love the hair/makeup and the blue dress! I’m inspired to get out of the little black dress rut!

Pretty Face, I keep some of the dresses (especially gowns and very old vintage) in storage.

    Shrimpton, steal away!

K.Line, my hair was curled and caught up in a little knot in the back (with some extra hair added to the knot).

Belle, that was the challenge! Finally I found a vintage slip place on the internet and lo and behold, they had the navy blue slip.

Thanks for your kind comments, all other peeps! 🙂
