Pining for Pimm’s at Harrods

April 2, 2009 by WendyB

I was thinking of gorgeous ex-blogger Miss L of London and her sadly defunct Times of Glory blog, so I looked up her post about my visit last year with her and the adorable Sharon Rose. It was a perfect day, as she said, and I love this picture she took of Sharon and me.

Hugging it out while drinking Pimm’s at Harrods

Miss L also took this picture of me wearing the Zac Posen gown I’d just gotten at Mrs. Sting’s charity sale.

With MrB, who is wearing a Pucci tie

I am planning to wear that dress to an event soon, so I tried it on recently. The very same day, I stumbled across this amazingly similar Jessica McClintock dress for $75. I don’t know which dress came first — great minds think alike! — but I do know that if you buy the McClintock, I’ll make you wear it out on the town with me.

Available at Housing Works

Going back to people of the British persuasion, comedian Peter Cook has been on my mind since January, when I wrote about the Having a Wank recording he did with Dudley Moore. Well, I can hardly forget him when people hit this blog 10 times a day due to a wank-related search. The search terms are often for “secret” wanking. Secret? As opposed to what … “out in the open”? Are all these people public wankers who are thinking, “I’m tired of being arrested. I’ll wank privately from now on, but I need some information about how to do that.” OH MY GOD! GEORGE MICHAEL, IS THAT YOU?

If you can bear to keep your hands off your private parts for moment, click on these highlarious videos. The first is Peter Cook’s Interesting Facts skit, performed live with Monty Python’s John Cleese. Cleese’s laugh at 1:45 is priceless. To give Cleese his due, I’m including my all-time favorite performance of the Pet Shop (Dead Parrot) sketch, during which Cleese makes his Python partner, Michael Palin, laugh uncontrollably. I also highly recommend Cook’s “mining” monologue.

LOL @ the public wankers. Sorry, that just reminded me of my coworker who had an early morning meeting where the presenter was talking about “master data in the office.” He told me about it afterward and said, “It didn’t help that the conversation immediately swerved to the difficulties of typing one-handed.”

Talented is my middle name…I can wank and drink Pimm’s all at the same time. Next time in New Orleans, have one at the Napolean House…preferably you will be sitting by one of the open windows and it will be a rainy romantic day.

This one is so good, especially the wankers backgrounder! But you are really evil to give someone like TP a list of links this good…! I won't surface for about a week!

The icing on the cake was the post from last May of the ebay auction for the dress and coat, oh-my-word.
    Unbelievably cool. Wow.

    Grins & Giggles Miss Wendy!
