Reminder: Bid for NieNie

September 10, 2008 by WendyB

You have until Friday to do a good deed for this gorgeous couple.

Stephanie “NieNie” Nielson and her husband Christian
They were badly burned in a plane crash.

Click here to learn about my NieNie auction or to place or check your bid.

I have a new bidding incentive. If the winning bid is $5,000 or more, the winner can choose to upgrade the silver Diana Necklace and diamond earrings to my brand-new, not-even-on-my-website-yet 18K gold Diana Necklace, featuring over half a carat of diamonds. The necklace is currently available in yellow gold, but can also be made in white or rose to suit your taste. It normally retails for $5,000.

The pendant is the same size as the silver Diana (click here to view the silver Diana on my spokesmodels). And, like all my pieces, it has great heft and beautiful matte finish.

You know, Alexander McQueen is one of my favorite designers. His clothes are true works of art. Behold the beauteousness of his balconette dress.

$4,995 at Net-a-Porter

I have no doubt that this stunning dress is worth every penny of $4,995. On the other hand, how many times a year can you wear it? If you can afford the Alexander McQueen dress, you can afford the $5,000 bid for the gold-and-diamond Diana Necklace that can be worn every day. Plus, the Diana comes with immortality — as I’ve said before, I will name a new jewelry design after you and put you on my website with Elizabeth I and Cleopatra. A beautiful necklace that can be worn every day, immortality, and the ability to help a couple in need. That’s worth way more than $5,000. Go bid. And I warn you: I better not see you wearing that McQueen dress if you haven’t bid on my auction!

CURRENT STATUS: I have a bid for $1,500 right now. Can I get a bid for $2,000?

REMEMBER: People who are out of the bidding can help by (a) using the blue button on the right to contribute $5, $10, or $20 to the family and (b) link to this post from their blogs, Facebook, MySpace, whatever, so that I can try to find that $5,000 bidder I want! If you do make a donation via the button, send a copy of your receipt to me at wbjewelry at hotmail dot com and I will pay tribute to you here:

  • Gorgeous blogger Nicole of C’est La Vie donated to the fund via Paypal. Thanks, Nicole! I should have guessed you’d be awesome because English majors rock!
  • Glamorous blogger Solo Lisa y Nada Mas doesn’t like transacting on the Web, but opened up a Paypal account just to donate to the fund. Thanks, Lisa!

The dress is nothing compared to the beauty of the necklace and the feeling that knowing you helped so much can give.
Speaking of gorgeous, that photo of the deserving couple is stunning. They have some unbelievably beautiful photos on their blog.

I wish I had the money to make a difference here.

On a different note, to all the Benjamin Cho’s of the world who can only see the negative in blogging – fuck you. This is what blogging can do.

I’m afraid $1500 was my limit, but I will be donating that amount to NieNie. Take that, Roger Vivier tartan platform pumps!

Thanks again for doing this Wendy. 🙂

Your logic in these follow-up bid posts is impeccable, WendyB. I’d definitely bid again if it were still within my budget. =)
