Must-See Movie and NieNie Donations

September 22, 2008 by WendyB

Y’all need to check out the very funny — and touching — movie The Lucky Ones, starring Tim Robbins, Rachel McAdams and Michael Pena. The movie is about three soldiers (two on leave, one discharged) driving from New York to Las Vegas.

It’s interesting that a movie that never shows the war can wind up saying so much about it. Sneaky.

This craptastic trailer doesn’t do the film justice at all. It makes the movie look so generic and sappy, which, I assure you, it is not. But here’s the trailer anyway.

Separately, check out the latest tally of NieNie donations. Have you donated yet?

You’re so right, WendyB, about their backs. And they’re both wearing the same shade of taupe/gray, too. Thanks for looking and commenting. I’ve always liked Tim Robbins, so thanks for the word up.

This looks like a good movie. I liked the part where they were all in the same car talking; it reminded me of another great road trip movie about 3 people on a journey, Y Tu Mama Tambien.

That’s cool – I don’t enjoy conventional war movies (fight scenes: boring) but this looks good. Plus I have a girl crush on Miss McAdams

Though I love the song, I think any time you use “I Will Remember You” in a trailer, the film is going to to look sappy.

Also, I’m so surprised seeing Rachel McAdams in that! What diversity she’s got as an actress.

Hadn’t heard about this movie, thanks for the recommendation! (BTW, Tim Robbins frequents our favorite sushi bar in town; he’s still a hottie!)

It is on my list of movies to see. But, I want to see the George Clooney movie first. I don’t care what the critics say.

Rachel Mcadams is totally one of my girl-crushes. Not exactly the most prolific of movies, but I loved her in the Family Stone.

Yes indeed, the trailer for this one is weak — I review movies for my job and i totally passed this up, but my friend at work who signed up for it came back from the press screening raving that it’s a very sweet, modest film. I wish they wouldn’t sell these movies short with such sappy trailers!

Thanks for the tip. I haven’t even heard of it.
