Fashion Moments in France

September 2, 2008 by WendyB

As I mentioned, we took a quick trip (arrived Friday, left Monday) to St. Tropez to celebrate the marriage of our gorgeous friends Scott and Isabelle.

Here I am, blowin’ in the wind in my several-years-old Versace dress, at the beautiful chateau where Scott and Isabelle hosted us. Later, that dog woke up and ate the cocktail napkin right out of my hand. (I quickly decided that if a dog of that size wanted to eat my cocktail napkin, I wasn’t going to argue with him.)

Check out my cork Louboutin sandals and matchy-matchy clutch.
I’m wearing my own Cleopatra Earrings.

We didn’t expect to know anyone besides the bride and groom, so imagine our surprise when the first person we encountered was our friend Zang Toi, the designer of the bride’s gown.

Zang is wearing a suit of his own design.

Here’s the happy couple.

Zang and his wedding gown.

Here’s the other happy couple!

The bride and groom.

I’m still not very adept with self-portraits, but at least you get a good view of the Cleopatra Earring. The yellow ring is a new Queen Min style with lemon citrine.

MrB’s tie (a birthday gift from BarbaraB) matches my dress.

In addition to bumping into an old friend, we made some new ones. Here are the stylish Lyn and Rob from Australia.

Lyn was amused by my Borgia Ring.

The next afternoon we wandered around St. Tropez (the morning was spent getting over my hangover). I was eager to shop for my beloved K. Jacques wedges in their native land — the brand was started in St. Tropez in the ’30s. My goal was just to replace my trashed black wedges. I wear out a pair of those each summer. But they didn’t have them in black, so I’ll have to search for them elsewhere.

Psychedelic shirt: Lucky
Denim skirt: Levis
Trashed wedges: K. Jacques
Fringed bag: Prada
Bleary eyes: Too much red wine

You look lovely in the Versace.

And that dog would have to be sedated for me to get that close to it.

Raven, it was really a most mellow and friendly dog. I don’t know why it suddenly decided to eat my napkin but to each his own!

Wendy B – you’re my idol! I love this post. Such a simple telling of an obviously very fun and stylish evening.

That Zang Toi gown is incredible! What a lucky bride… I’m totally jealous of your trip to K.Jacques, even if you didn’t get the pair you were looking for.

    Sounds like a lovely trip!

  43. WendyB says

Christine, the couple had actually already gotten married, this was just a celebration, so the groom was that casual. Plus (probably more relevant) he has a broken hip so no doubt wasn’t up to a spectacular outfit!
