Liar Pants

May 11, 2008 by WendyB

My delightful graphic designer Lori Kadezabek turned 30 today. Her boyfriend got her my Isabella Wolf-Fang Necklace in silver.

Lori picked out the necklace herself, but her BF wanted to surprise her, so he told me that if she asked, I should say I hadn’t heard from him. I was most amused by the email I received from her after she got her gift. The subject line was, “Liar Pants!!!” It went on say:

Obviously you know…HE GOT ME THE WOLF AND IT ROCKS!!! IT IS EVEN MORE AWESOME IN PERSON!!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!
I sooo didn’t think I was getting it 🙁

I’m asked to lie about gifts on a fairly regular basis. It’s not my favorite part of the job because I don’t like disappointing people, even temporarily, but I will do it as long as the gift-buyer gives me a warning. But don’t forget about someone’s birthday and then try to retroactively pretend you were conspiring with me all along! I charge extra for being dragged into your domestic drama.

Here is a new Edburga Poison Ring (shown open and closed) for those of you in the shopping mood. This time I didn’t completely blacken the silver but just gave it some texture. The stone is a rose quartz with a diamond set underneath it. It’s not on my halfway-working site yet, so if you’re interested, contact me at wbjewelry at hotmail dot com.

I have a few people who need the poison in the Edburga ring, but jokes aside- they would make such beautiful gifts! It’s always a joy for me to look at your site and be reminded that jewellery isn’t necessarily heavy, bulky, fusty stuff (like most of what I see in real life- precious little actual design going on, it’s more about how many carats there are going on. Trad bijoux can get boring..).

I wanted to read some more on your site after viewing the homepage but somehow that fang stuck in my head and hunted me down until commenting on! So here I am – it’s one cold beauty! And as far as the ring goes – you made me remember all those tragic fairy tales from my childhood. That and the music I’m listening right now (Mariza – Cavaleiro Monge) arranged the mood for today! See if I can cook now or clean up the house! I’m sooo out of this time!
