Whip It. Whip It Good.

March 26, 2008 by WendyB

A while ago, gorgeous blogger Annie at Poetic & Chic got me thinking about Herb Alpert, which got me thinking about one of my favorite album covers of all time.

The girl in the “whipped cream” (most of it was really shaving cream) was Dolores Erickson. You can read about her here and here.

That cover is amazing. I’d totally frame it and hang it on my wall. But then again, my mother already thinks I’m a lesbian because of my infatuation with large breasted women, I wonder what she’d say about this on my wall.

If I had been the stylist I would have put a cherry on top of her head. But, that’s just me.

OMFG, I’m of an age that I remember my parents having that album in their “record” collection that they played in the floor model stereo. I used to have nightmares about that woman

I remember seeing this in my dad’s album collection when I was a kid. I was young, too young to know what was what, and yet, I knew this was provocative. It’s never been outdone, I don’t think. That was a great record, too.

I now have two new goals in life: 1.) Have someone refer to me casually as “gorgeous blogger” and 2.) get my girlfriend to wear that same outfit. Thanks for the inspiration!

Kian, my parents had it too.
LBIC, I want to hear more about your big boobie fetish.
LBR, I’m with you. It needed that little something extra.
    Gifted, why the nightmares?
ENC, I was the same way. I knew there was something naughty but I didn’t quite get it.
McGone, send me that pig and I’ll see what I can do about #1.

I have this on vinyl. Which also reminds me of the remix album they did and the cover is complete trash. Why do new versions of things have to be so terrible all of the time?

And dammit – I was in LA all last week.

I really like Jimmy Smith record covers. . . they’re vibrant and bright. Especially “Any Number Can Win”. . .
