Tickled Pink and Yellow

March 16, 2008 by WendyB

The hot color combination for spring is pink and acid yellow. It first caught my eye at J. Crew.

Then I noticed it at a store called Strawberry Jam.

Yoox has a Versace jacket that combines the two.

You could pair these adorable Chloe shoes from Intermix with a yellow dress from Shopbop.
The inspiration for all this is clear: Peeps!

The yellow chick Peep is a classic…

…but I prefer the mouthless bunnies.
They’re cute and they can’t scream while you eat them.

Why not? Peeps have a history of inspiring creative people.

  • The classic Peep site: Peep Research
  • Research about Peeps DOING research. Very meta!
  • Washington Post Peeps Diorama Contest 2007 (2008 winners will be published next weekend. Site requires registration but it’s worth it.)

But sugar-free Peeps get a bad review.

“They’re cute and they can’t scream while you eat them.”

    Just LOL’ed as they say.

I knew you would pick up on that Henry VII reference.
It is indeed- she was named after her. Why THAT Catherine I’m not sure.

That Peeping Peeps diorama is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. Honest.

Also, I’m in NYC from April 30th to May 3rd.

Hey Wendy- I saw The Other Boleyn Girl this weekend…
I noticed that Natalie Portman was wearing the same necklace that Ugly Betty wears- maybe you should write about that?
    ๐Ÿ˜›

(I was thinking of you everytime I saw that necklace on screen)

I love the yellow and pink. It is such a candy color combination.

Peeps crack me up. I can’t eat them (I’m not a sugar person, I’m more of a chocolate fan) but we had this tiny girl where I worked and she was a HUGE fan o’ the Peeps. So we decided to do a Peeps eating contest as part of a Easter office party. We matched her against a bunch of guys. She ate 12 in like 3 min. None of the guys could beat her. Then they all threw up. It was awesome.

I think I could only eat 3. We called her Peepsy the rest of her time there.

    Luv
    Poochie

I second the Princess’ comment, while also noticing the stories about gold hitting record highs…but what’s the highest it’s ever been?

    (snort)

I just bought a sweater that very same acid green, and you are right that it is well worth registering with the Post to see the Peeps diorama entries.

Hmmm. I don’t approve of the pink yellow thing so much but I am a big fan of PURPLE and yellow so maybe I shouldn’t really talk….

Peeps are horrible. My teeth recoil just thinking about them! ๐Ÿ™‚ They are CUTE though.

I am totally going to use that Peeping Peeps diorama for my upcoming court case, because I look a lot more forgivable when portrayed as a blue peep.

Hey Wendy I can’t find your email so I am leaving this as a comment here. This is in response to your comment on Style Bytes about Coutorture.

Actually at the time (if I recall correctly but I could be totally wrong which I am soooooo often so you know) what we saw on your blog was a lot of lifestyle focused pieces (which were awesome, don’t get me wrong) and not a lot of emphasis on straight fashion or beauty which is what we think we can help support the best.

We aren’t a little club (though if we had a treehouse that would be awesome) we just try to focus on supporting who we think we are best equipped to support.

C’est tout! If you think I am dead fucking wrong and you totally have something in our niche that we can help rock and support then my bad and drop me a line.

Peeps are my favoritist thing about Easter. Sure there’s all that stuff about Jesus and being saved but, I mean, they didn’t have sugarry marshmallowy goodness back in the day.

Mm, what is the point of sugar-free peeps? The entire purpose of peeps is to give yourself hyperglycemic shock.

I love the Chloe shoes but I wish they were a bit brighter. They are a very Easter-y pink though.
