Boots That I Won’t Be Buying

January 8, 2008 by WendyB

I was very attracted to a few pairs of gray boots on sale on Net-a-Porter. Luckily, none of them were available in my size. If I had ordered them but they weren’t comfortable, I would have had to tangle with Net-a-Porter’s customer service people in order to return the boots. The last time I had to return something to Net-a-Porter, the situation got very ugly. I think “words” were exchanged, and those words weren’t “This was a good shopping experience!”

The boots are beautiful anyway.

Miu Miu
$437.50 down from $625

Olivia Morris
$426, down from $1065 (wow!)

Bottega Veneta
$720, down from $1200

In unrelated boot news, Jimmy Choo seems to have been inspired by Minnetonka.

Minnetonka

Speaking of Minnetonka, I’ve lusted after the following Minnetonka boots since high school. But where would I wear them now? I think I’ll just keep ogling them from a distance. Or I can get them and fondle them when I’m alone. What do you think?

since i live in AZ i’ve never oogled anything by minnetonka but those are awesome. very dances with wolves/in britneys hand and not her feet in a public bathroom.

you could buy every color for the same price as the Bottega Veneta. i’m just sayin in case you couldn’t pick a color.

I didn’t know Minnetonka made so many different colors! I got a pair of brown ankle length moccasins from Urban a few months ago, they’re quite comfortable.

I love the Miu Mius. And yes, get the light blue Minnetonkas. I’m sure you can rock them all over town, confuse the heck out of the “fashion slaves” and inspire the Sartorialist to feature your gorgeousness.

Yes, please…the first three gray boots I want all of them. I’m not too keen on the mocassin boots, just a matter of personal taste – but they look good for snow and bad weather.

LOL. and what a bargain on the olivia morris pair! forget about how they look (although i’m not saying they look half bad)… think about the savings! too bad about the size. or maybe for Net-A-Porter, thank god there weren’t any in your size haha

They’re ALL gorgeous boots, though I’m wondering about how easily those ice-cream-coloured ones will get scuffed and dirty on the streets of NYC..but they definitely look stroke-able.

Love these boots. Pretty expensive though. especially for us poor South Africans. Have to multiply each dollar by 7.

i just found another blogger in AZ because of minnetonka boots!!! YAY!
oh yes, back on topic–minnetonka boots. curse them to hell. i love them so much but everytime i rock one of the nine that i own i look like i’m trying too hard to be a hessian ala 1991…it’s only natural i’d want to put feathers and wear househusbands iron maiden tee.

Weasel! Not even RED squaw boots? I’m telling you, if they had those three-rows-of-fringe boots in red, I’d get them and dance around the house in them.

I have had a long distance love affair with Minnetonka for many years now. Sadly, I lack the courage to go for it. The Olivia Morris boots, though… I’ll second enc’s WOWEE.

The miu miu ones are fabulous and sadly, I must admit that I own a pair of mocassins that i’ve worn too recently to admit when.

ah! the bottega veneta ones are lovely!

hehe… returning online orders can suck sometimes, i once had to exchange ‘words’ with homedepot.com

    not as glamourous as net-a-porter

    The Bottega Veneta looks wonderful.

Exchanging words with customer service is something I think everyone has had to deal with. Last week I had to deal with Victoria’s Secret because I ordered a wonderful bag from their PINK collection and instead I received some horrible looking SKECHERS boots…

the words minnetonka always remind me of “you have to purify yourself in the waters of lake minnetonka” (have you seen purple rain?) haha

i NEED a good pair of boots, thanks for the inspiration

I would think one could find a myriad of occassions for those knee-high Minnetonkas.

Romantic role playing comes to mind first, but I guess you could also grocery shop in them.

    I love the aqua ones.
