What Wendy Wore: California Three-Peat

June 7, 2010 by WendyB

While I was packing for last week’s trip to Los Angeles, I remembered that I had unintentionally worn the same outfit and posed in the exact same location on L.A. visits in March 2008 and December 2008. This called for a three-peat, so I packed my Black Halo top, black Acne jeans, 16-year-old Karl Lagerfeld shoes and my Prada Gaufre bag — deliberately, this time. Guess which photo is from which trip!

[UPDATED MAY 2012 TO NOTE THAT THERE WAS A SLIDESHOW HERE BUT IT WAS LOST WHEN SLIDE.COM SHUT DOWN.]

Give up? Here are the 2008 photos.

I also brought my tiger-stripe Clovis Ruffin dress.

I can't resist an animal print.

Dress: Clovis Ruffin from eBay
Necklace: My own Cleopatra design
Shoes: Those Lagerfelds again
Lip color: Lasting Lust by MAC

As I mentioned in my epic post on Sex and the City 2,Β  I was thrilled to see a one-shoulder dress on Kim Cattrall that looked so similar to my dress that I’m convinced it is a Clovis. If anyone finds out for sure, let me know.

To see my L.A. blogger bitches, I wore the same Alexander McQueen dress I wore for a blogger meet-up in Phoenix.

Heading back to the hotel room after dinner.

Dress: Alexander McQueen (2010)
Necklace, purse, shoes and lip color: all the same as above

Of course, I had all my L.A. wimmins wear the silver Cleopatra earrings just like the New York bloggers did.

Here are Alicia of Instant Vintage and Sister Wolf of Godammit I’m Mad looking matchy-matchy in their Cleopatra earrings and red lipstick.

Deja Pseu of Une Femme d’un Certain Age was covered in my work. In addition to the Cleopatra earrings she wore her own engraved Diana necklace …

… and we made sure to point out herΒ  custom engagement ring! I still have to write a post about how we redesigned her original ring and came up with the new piece.

I'm wearing my onyx skull ring.

Meanwhile, Kelsi of Stylesmith and Dedicated Follower of Fashion wore just one earring. Read why here.

I missed getting close-ups of Miss Janey and Sandra but luckily they did their own posts! Check out them out here and here. Alicia and Kelsi wrote posts too. Sadly, I missed seeing some bloggers completely. If you’re an L.A. blogger who didn’t get to join us, holla at me in the comments so I can create an e-mail list and include you next time.

That tiger stripe dress is awesome! I love that you got all the ladies together for the premiere. Every time I see the commercial with someone near me (could be a stranger, doesn’t matter), I’m all, “I know the delightful woman who made those!”

Okay, my guess for most recent is the one with the white tablecloth (before getting the answer). I find it so amusing when people find themselves doing the same things again; we are truly creatures of habit. Okay now… MEEEEEOOOOOW! RAWR! PURRRRR! That’s my way of saying I love your tiger stripes.

The answer to your question: I don’t wear red lipstick to match my shoes. I actually don’t wear lipstick. BUT when I do wear lipstick, I use nude colors. My lips are quite big, I don’t want to put too much accent on it. πŸ™‚
