Good Buy: Joss Stone’s Nine West Wedges on Sale

June 29, 2010 by WendyB

If you love wedges like I do, I’ve found the summer shoe for you:A  the “Linkit” from Nine West’s capsule collection for Nordstrom. It’s on sale for $65.90, down from $99.95.

Click to buy.

I saw the brown version of these shoes on singer Joss Stone earlier this month. Joss was promoting a separate collaboration she’s done with Nine West called Vintage America. The name of the collection made me a little giggly because Joss is neither vintage nor American. She was born in 1987 and she’s English. (Rule of thumb for analyzing age: you’re not “vintage” until you’re old enough to be gorgeous 14-year-old blogger Tavi‘s mother.) Gorgeous blogger Stacy of taffetadarlings was giggly because Joss is known for not wearing shoes at all. Still, the shoes were cool and Joss herself was absolutely beautiful and delightful.

Joss, sitting in front of her Nine West collection.

Joss politely asked for the name of my red lipstickA  (MAC’s Lasting Lust again — when is MAC going to hire me as the official Lasting Lust spokesmodel?) and volunteered to crouch down so I could take a picture of her multicolored manicure and pedicure together. Note that her fingernails match her scarf in the photo above.

Joss's Linkit wedges and nail art. She did the manicure and pedicure herself.

Another great thing about Joss: She played Anne of Cleves in The Tudors and, as I once proved, Anne of Cleves was a damn genius.

I posed for a picture with Joss but it’s too traumatic to share because she’s tall and thin and I was wearing an unflattering vintage peasant dress that made me look like a stubby little mushroom in the shade of an elegant willow tree. I consoled myself by finding the perfect pair of evening shoes for the fall in the Nine West showroom. I need black suede heels to replace the 16-year-old Karl Lagerfelds because, to no one’s surprise but mine, 16 years of wear isn’t kind to shoes.A  I can’t wait till the Nine West pair hits the stores. I’m crazy about the platform, the square toe (very Alexander McQueen, I think) and the button detail on the back.

Shoe by Nine West.

I plan to wear these with everything — except that unfortunate peasant dress. The only place that dress is going is my friendly neighborhood thrift store. And, no, you don’t get to see a picture of it before it lands there.

You know, I remember when Joss didn’t use to WEAR shoes. 🙂 But I think she’s really pretty and natural and unique which so many young singers/actresses these days are lacking. She seems like she’s HER, not someone dressed by a stylist.

And I love the wedges. I’m a big wedges fan and a huge vintage/seventies fan so it’s a given. The annoying thing is, I smashed the hell out of the arch bone in my right foot as a kid, requiring surgeries and stitches galore and it now has a huge lump on top of that foot, so any show that requires a buckle across the arch, is hard for me as it’s either way tight, doesn’t fit at all or hurts like hell. 🙁 I’m so unfortunate.

They surprisingly look much cuter on her than in the product photo. She looks darling!

Those Nine West pumps are to DIE for! It shouldn’t matter that I already have too many pairs of black heels, right? I can still have them? Let’s hope so 😉

I am loving Nine West lately! I was off them for a while, but I’ve seen some super cool styles including two pairs of sandal wedges that I bought for the summer. Can I copy you and get the pumps? I promise to not wear them when we go out together.

You can get them ONLY if you wear them when we go out together so we can take “twins” photos.

The other day when you tweeted about taking pics next to tall thin people, were you referring to Joss Stone or Rumi from Fashion Toast?

Anyway, the wedges and the black pumps are fantastic! Nine West…when they get it right, they REALLY get it right.

OOH those wedges are hot! Look at you doing some bargain shopping! 🙂 I like it!

I really like the over-the-knee boots from the Vintage America collection only w/out that rafia strap thing.

Definitely digging both pairs! One seems so natural and great for summer, and the bottom pair are so vampy and sexy!

The first thing that came to mind was that Stone was in The Tudors–but of course you already knew that.

I really, really want to love Nine West but every shoe I’ve ever bought from them hurts like hell. So I avoid them, sad to say 🙁

I’m glad you found these…I was looking for black wedges.

And MAC should have hired you long ago.

Things I can’t believe: 1)Joss in shoes. 2) You ever looking like a stubby little mushroom.

How dare you deprive us of a photo of the dress! Not even lank on a hanger? Devoid of human filling?

I love those wedges. Now I just need the life that requires I wear them!

Yes, the whole thing is just a bit off… Joss Stone, an English, shoeless youngster promoting an American, vintage shoe. Hmmm. But, somehow it works.

    Oooh, I love my anti-spam word… browncow!!
