What Wendy Wore: Valentine’s Day Fail

February 20, 2020 by WendyB

Last Valentine’s Day, I was disappointed that I didn’t put more effort into my outfit. I do adore the floofy H&M jacket gifted to me by OG blogger Sheila of Ephemera in 2018. It’s Valentine’s-worthy red and even vaguely heart-shaped thanks to its puffy shoulders. But, as you can see, I lazily wore it with jeans.

Meanwhile, I have a heart-themed vintage Moschino dress that’s begging to be worn again.

The vintage Moschino in 2015.

This year, I was determined to wear the Moschino; MrB was excited to see it. Our Valentine’s dinner wasn’t until 9:15 p.m., so I had plenty of time to sit and chat with my goldsmith when I went to pick up a customer’s ring at 5:30 p.m. I actually had too much time, because I would get home by 6 p.m.  So when my goldsmith offered a glass of wine, why would I say no? I’d be home by 7 p.m. at the latest. Even after a second glass of wine, I’d be home by 8 p.m. Hey, I could even leave the office AT 8 p.m. and still do a quick change and get to the restaurant in time. But it’s silly to leave a teeny bit of wine in a bottle — you might as well drink it, so we did — and lo and behold! Once the bottle was empty, I had only 15 minutes to meet MrB.  Therefore, I did end up outdoing 2018’s outfit in a manner of speaking: This look is much more disappointing.

What Wendy Wore to the Diamond District
Coat: Moose Knuckles (2017)
Sweater: Lord & Taylor cashmere (2017 or 2018)
Jeans: Acne (2008-ish, lots of patching on them)
Boots: Uggs (2017)
Glasses: Prada (2010)
Purse: Louis Vuitton (2011)

I guess it could’ve been worse, considering I’ve run jewelry errands while wearing something I slept in the night before. And, in my defense, the card I gave MrB didn’t specifically cite “style” as one of my desirable attributes.

Isn’t MrB a lucky guy?

Wait till he sees me on Valentine’s Day 2021! The glo up will be real.

LOL on your wine adventure on Valentine’s Day. I hope Mr. B wasn’t too ticked!

Thank you for the shout-out! Mwah!

I have to confess I might have been pretty angry if someone did that to me! HA!
