Take Action on Gun Terrorism: Join a Vigil

August 6, 2019 by WendyB

Did you call your senators today to demand action on gun violence? If you didn’t, it’s not too late! Do it Wednesday by following my instructions here. And if you did do it … do it again! You can call or Resistbot your senators every day. They work for you. Make them work harder.

For those who have already talked the talk and are anxious to walk the walk, here’s your second task for this week: Join an #ElPasoFirme vigil on Wednesday to call for an end to white-supremacist terrorism while remembering the lives lost to gun violence.

  • Click here to find an event in your location.

No vigil in your neighborhood? Create your own with a couple of friends. Register it on the #ElPasoFirme website to grow your crowd. Make yourself some signs and stand outside your senators’ offices with them. Another good location would be outside a local news organization’s office.

While you’re at it, make sure you stay informed about other kinds of local actions by signing up at #SOSAmerica and NeverAgainAction. Activism isn’t just about giant “one and done” protests like the Women’s March, as impressive as those kind of events are. We need continuous protests across the country, and these groups are making those happen.

I find it sad and confusing why we are making the “gun” the “object” that needs to be eliminated….instead of the one wielding the gun, the perpetrator who used the gun. It would be the same as trying to eliminate cars if someone ran your down, like what happened in Paris…. “they” do not call for the removal of cars. Its not the object that is enacting the evil deed its the person. This needs to be looked at in a completely different way. If the guns go, then the knives come out, as to what just happened in Garden Grove Calif. Its not the object. If someone wants to do harm, they will find a way.

I find it sad that so many lives are ruined due to American gun lust.

Also, there’s no knife that kills 9 people in 30 seconds like an assault rifle just did in Dayton.

And do you really think that allowing civilians to own assault rifles protects us from mass stabbings by offering a good alternative?

Also, cars have legit uses besides killing humans.

Your logic is flawed, and your humanity is lacking.

P.S. This is not the blog or jewelry line for you, my friend.
