Ready for my “People of Walmart” Photo Op

June 16, 2014 by WendyB

Last week, I asked my hair guru, Keith Carpenter, for a mullet-y haircut. As the Beastie Boys song “Mullet Head” goes, “Cut the sides, don’t touch the back!”

I was inspired by Lady Gaga’s longtime friend and DJ Lady Starlight. I was hyp-mo-tized by Starlight’s hair at Gaga’s Roseland concert this spring.

I do like a versatile ‘do, which a mullet definitely is. Not only do I fit in with the Haus of Gaga, I’ll feel at home with the People of Walmart too. In fact, I was tempted to buy the rest of the Walmart uniform this weekend.

Spotted these overalls at Barneys.

Overalls and mullets make me think of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups: two great tastes that go great together.

I think your hair looks great. Fashionable mullets are cool and edgy and not Wal-Mart-ish at all. However, I cannot condone the overalls. I. Just. Can’t.

I’m just laughing… you’re so funny. This post is a masterpiece.
    When is FitzRoy getting overalls?

After he masters his harness, the next step is overalls.

    Take it to the MAX..

cut the overalls up to the crotch…let butt cheeks hang out…color hair pink, purple blue…& do the same for Fitzroy….You could win best/worst dressed for Wal Mart…

Brilliant! It’s important to have a matching pet. How could I forget that?

OMG, this is the coolest mullet in the long history of mullets. Fabulous People of WalMart?

LOL, that would be an awfully sparse website.

I’m a “never” on the overalls (which I guess means that they are the next new thing!), but I have always loved mullets. Rock it, Wendy!

Why shouldn’t hair combine party and business, after all? 🙂

The DJ’s hair reminds me of very early Cher!

YES! I love it! (and Cher)

THe hair looks great! And you manage to pull off overalls, somehow, though I’m not revisiting that trend in this lifetime 🙂

LOL — the sales associate suggested I wear the overalls with a tube top, how do you like that for a blast from the past?

I like the hair! But I am a big fan of crazy hair anyways. Trying to decide what color streaks I should add to mine (am currently platinum blonde). Thinking turquoise or purple. Wendy/WB community thoughts?

Oooh, I’m so into turquoise! I’ve been wishing for that for myself! Maybe just at the tips for me? Cuz you gotta bleach before doing that and I’m too lazy to do it all over!

I’m already bleached out – so why not go for it! And I would love to see the tips on your very stylish mullet a bright color – turquoise, sapphire blue, or maybe emerald green?

        June 18, 2014 at 12:51 am

Yeah, you’re bleached so you MUST do something.

I’m liking the idea of green for me, now that you mention it!

Your new hair is definitely a “do,” dear Wendy!! And although I initially thought that the whole overalls thing was ridiculous…as so often happens, I’ve since changed my mind and TOTALLY encourage you to go for them!! 😀

      You’re tempting me, Pudding!

I always think of you as “Pudding”! 🙂
