Here are some “vintage” pumpkin photos for Halloween.
Last year, gorgeous blogger Susan of Une femme d’un certain age paid tribute to FitzRoy the cat in pumpkin form.

The year before that, I was thrilled by this photo of a pumpkin carved to look like rapper Rick Ross.
I was so amused by the inclusion of Ross’s notorious self-portrait necklace that I tracked down the rap-o-lantern creator and interviewed him for the Huffington Post.

I also dug up a Halloween photo from 2001. My friends and I went as “four bad-ass chicks from the Moulin Rouge.” We brought along one fine-lookin’ pimp.

Halloween was especially exciting that year. We were all still traumatized by 9/11. The smell and the smoke from the ruins was in the air for weeks. I recall it as still being present at Halloween, but perhaps that’s a false memory. Anyway, it seemed like a big deal to go out and act normal and lighthearted. I got my first digital camera specifically for the occasion.
Great throwback and reminder of the joy in dressing up and spending time with friends. And if you’re going to dress up, go big — those false eyelashes had rhinestones on them!
We had rhinestones on our faces too! So fun.
