Waiting for Hurricane Irene

August 27, 2011 by WendyB

While we in New York await the arrival of Hurricane Irene, I keep thinking of another wild woman with a rhyming name.  Here’s Dolly Parton singing her classic song, “Jolene.”

Tell me you don’t love that ’70s country-music fashion!

Dolly is my homegirl. I love her so fiercely. I think I love her more the older she gets, because she gets more fiery the older she gets. I definitely want to be that way!

(ps – I hope you stay safe in the hurricane!)

I love her…went to LA specifically to see her at the Hollywood Bowl. MrB had been saying for years, “I need to take you to the Hollywood Bowl” and when I saw she was playing there right around the time of our wedding anniversary, I said, “Let’s do it now! For Dolly!”

I LOVE that song. And her jumpsuit is unbelieveable! Hawt.

Love her, love the song, and, I used to watch that TV show!

Batten down the hatches and stay dry.

I’ve always loved her makeup, nails and wigs. She is awesome. Great video, thanks for posting. I just wish I could see her shoes; they are always so great.

Really hope the Hurricane doesn’t do too much damage.
I saw Dolly at the O2 in London, what a woman. She can do no wrong in my eyes.

I read a wonderful interview with her in either Elle or Vogue recently. Never making fun of her surgeries or dress sense again, ever. What an inspiration she is!

Dolly is a hell of a woman. And what a great singer/songwriter.

    Seek high ground/apartments!

What a classic song, made even better by the spectacular 70’s jumpsuit. I hope Irene doesn’t treat you too badly!

    Dolly not Irene ..

Hope it’s all a crazy adventure and once in a lifetime madness that ends. Soon. Well.

    Good thoughts …

As a Tennessee resident, I feel obligated to love Dolly… and who wouldn’t?! I am not a country fan, but I heart Dolly.

    Hope you’re staying safe.

Good old Dolly. She is so ridiculously cool. How goes the hurricane, did you suffer any damage?

I am glad to hear that! Also, oh dear my anti-spam word was booze.
