Somewhere, a Peacock Curses Me

January 18, 2009 by WendyB

As you saw in my previous post, I packed up my feathery shawl and went to D.C. for the evening to attend an inaugural party thrown by The Root. The green gown is by my designing friend Zang Toi. He made two peacock accessories to go with it: the shawl and a fan.

I wore the shawl last night.

The first time I wore the dress, in 2006, I carried the fan.

With MrB in ’06

The Root’s party was held at the Smithsonian National Museum of American History. We had a good time meeting the locals there.

MrB’s new friend looks a little horny.

Babe-raham Lincoln

Spike Lee, Samuel L. Jackson and Natalie Portman were all at the party, but I chose to pose with Honest Abe because he is the only one famous enough to have his picture on money.

UPDATED TO ADD: As I previously pointed out, this dress was from the same Zang Toi collection as a peacock mini that Eva Longoria wore in 2008.

Did you ask Abe if that was a stovepipe hat on his head or was he just happy to see you?

Actually, that’d be really inappropriate to ask the 16th President that.
