Same Old, Same Old

December 14, 2008 by WendyB

Here I am a couple of days ago, in my Black Halo top, Acne jeans and Karl Lagerfeld shoes from 1994. My Prada Gaufre bag is on the table. I’m standing in a hotel lobby.

And here I am in March 2008, in my Black Halo top, Acne jeans and 1994 Karl Lagerfeld shoes. My Prada bag is on the table. I’m standing in the same hotel lobby.

It’s enough to make me wonder if I’m getting a little predictable!

As for those Lagerfeld shoes, earlier that evening (the most recent evening, I mean, not the March evening) I was browsing the sale shoes at Neiman Marcus, and one of the saleswomen said, “I love those Lagerfeld shoes! I have the same ones.” When I disbelievingly said that they were over 10 years old, she said, “Yes, I’ve had them forever and I got them in red too!” So that was my little “you keep your shoes forever too?” bonding moment with a stranger for the month.

Also in the recent photo, I’m wearing the Lancome red lipstick/black gloss combo I posted about here. It finally arrived. I found if you just put the tiniest amount of black gloss on, it gives the red a beautiful dimension, but as Jennine mentioned in her comment on my previous post, it did a hell of a lot of bleeding. The more gloss I used, the worst bleeding there was, of course. But what really annoyed me is that even without the gloss, the lipstick was migrating off my lips, which is something I don’t usually have a problem with. I’m disappointed with Lancome. I feel like they didn’t make a good effort to test the quality of their product. That’s why you should come shop my fine jewelry sale. I personally wear-test everything to make sure, for instance, that the earrings are comfortable and that the lockets stay closed. Get busy, people! You’re running out of time for holiday shopping. Remember, I still have one pair of the shoulder-dusting Cleopatra earrings in silver. They’re long but amazingly lightweight. They’re not on the site yet, so if you’re interested, email me at wbjewelry at hotmail dot com.

You look fabulous! And for anyone who’s reading this comment, I can attest to WendyB’s dedication to testing out all her designs on herself. 🙂

Your outfit is amazing, but it would be even more so with those earrings. Everything would be made more awesome with those earrings, actually.

I love the hability you have of making fun of the stuff that happens to you. No worries, repeating outfit it’s not bad, specially when it’s such a great one.

This is vaguely freakish! I can’t believe how similar the poses are… Fortunately you are predictably gorgeous.

    I hate when make-up doesn’t hold up!

I had a friend tell me how gret the lip gloss from Rimmel was and I bought a tube on recommendation. The stuff lasts all of 2 minutes on my lips! I was so disappointed.

Feathering lipstick and gloss are the worst.

Well, now i have had my giggle for the day 🙂

Shame about the gloss – I was really looking forward to excessive posting about how fabulous it was. Stupid Lancome.

10 year old shoes… that is pretty dang cool. I often wonder what my shoe closet will look like in 10 years.
    hmmmm.

When you have that perfect outfit that you feel like a million bucks in, you really can’t go wrong. Predictable? Yeah right! I’m sorry to hear about that lipgloss. I had been waiting to read your review on it once it finally showed up! It looked like it had so much potential!

A couple of days ago? Quit living in the past!

Sometimes, I have pictures taken of me in the same outfit, too, but it’s mostly because I only own like two pairs of pants and 8 shirts.

But you look great, so being predictable can be good!

Maybe I read your blog too much, but seeing that first photo (the most recent) I thought it was that second photo, because I remembered it.

I suppose that speaks volumes for your fabulous outfit? x

Too bad about the waited-for lipstick! I read some poor reviews of it so didn’t bother trying to get it – instead, I was quite happy when the maker of my favorite red lipstick (rouge sinner by Lipstick Queen) came out with something they call Black Tie Optional – super-sheer black lipstick or black gloss. I have and love both, and you can use them over your tried-and-true favorite red.

Ok. If I ever manage to afford something, I’m having those earrings.

You look fab. If it works, stick with it. Bowie wore the same Ossie shirt for many public appearances over a couple of years. If it’s good enough for Bowie and WendyB, it’s good enough for me.

I keep my shoes forever too (much to my hubby’s dismay)! I finally had to give away a couple of Marc Jacobs pairs I had just because they were too beat up to wear anymore… I miss them so! And no, prospects of new shoes don’t make me feel any better. Ok, I’m lying, it does make me feel a tiny bit better…
