Sequins, Fringe and Peeping Toes

July 19, 2008 by WendyB

You can join my Golden Girls gang if you’re wearing these sequined shoes by Alexander McQueen.

Available at Yoox for $835, down from $1670

Meanwhile, these seriously fringed Louboutins make my Prada fringe bag look almost bald.

$1575 at Bergdorf Goodman

These funky, peep-toe boots by Sigerson Morrison are on sale for $347, down from $695, on Sigerson’s website.

UPDATED TO ADD: Thanks to Rice and Beans Vintage for pointing out that Gucci has fringed boots. These tall ones have a Stevie Nicks vibe.

$1,250 at Bergdorf Goodman

But I heart the booties. They bring me back to my high school years. Normally, I want to erase those years from my memory — but there are quite a few fashions that still strike a chord.

$635 at Bergdorf Goodman

If you feel true love for any of these pieces, I urge you to get them while the getting is good! I didn’t realize my feelings for the Prada fringe purse were the real deal till the season was over. I had to stalk that style on eBay for months before I found what I wanted.

UPDATED AGAIN TO ADD: Nine West has a fringe bag for $150, available for pre-order.

I’d surely need my walker to help me out if I was wearing those McQueen shoes. They’re fabulous, though.

While your bag quite attractively completes your black and white (and read all over) look in that photo from London, these boots and their multitudinous fringe are something else. Ah, design. What a joy!

I’m so glad that you’ve been enjoying the automobiles, WendyB. I’m continually amazed at the numbers of vintage vehicles on the streets of Portland.

I love a low heeled boot, but I’m not sure the peeptoe would hold up to a Michigan winter. Better stick with my ugly hikers 😉

The peep toe has an ugly/cool vibe that I heart very much . . . And in case you’re too busy to follow a thread (I’m sure you are!)–I left you a question after your most recent comment on my blog.

Cybill, I admire your creativity and determination to work around the rules. If you are willing to carry a pair of shoes around, you can definitely join.

Oh god, I am such a sucker for fringed boots. I think I spent too much time in the 70s. Like, my entire childhood, for instance.

I guess it’s better than the 80s. I could be longing for big hair, ripped fishnet stalkings and a crucifix.
