Have Dust Ruffle, Will Travel

May 8, 2008 by WendyB

Last week, our friend David Ng, the executive editor of the New York Daily News, received an award from the Asian American Federation. I wore a dress by Zang Toi to the celebratory dinner.

Isn’t it a little like couch upholstery, complete with dust ruffle?
But in a nice way.

David told a touching story about the event that inspired him to go into journalism. He previously told this story at the Asian American Journalists Association; you can read that speech here.

David makes a speech.

How many hairpins does it take to hold in my faux-ny tail? This many!

In addition to many hairpins, I wore my new Sunflower Earrings. If you want more information about these beautiful earrings, contact me at wbjewelry at hotmail dot com.

UPDATED TO ADD: I wasn’t going to share this photo because I look more wonky-eyed than usual in it, but it provides a better view of the earrings. They’re not little studs!

If you look closely at my eyes, I totes look like a Picasso!

I LOVE this dust ruffle! The earrings are nice, too. They glow, just like your smile.

A friend of mine saw a photo of this dress and said, “Can’t you remove the ruffle?” But I bought it FOR the ruffle! LOL.

I love the ruffle, too! And you in it with your hair-pinned fauyx-ny tail and daintily-crossed ankles.

I have to say that I find your blog to be most eclectic and enlightening. Mr. Ng’s speech is so wonderful, and I would have never even known it existed but for you and your blog. Thanks, WendyB.

I forgot to say that I really like those earrings, and browsing your Web site was neat. It looks ready-Freddy! I’m partial to sunflowers since my dearly departed LeRoy was from Kansas, the Sunflower State.

The despotic Queen of Shoes has decreed that yes, the title of ‘Lady’ should be granted to WB for your life-long commitment to fashion and most importantly for services rendered in the application of lipstick!

such a fun dress! I’ve been slightly obsessed with the whole black lace over nude thing since Galliano did it for Dior (a couple years ago??) Great look, and the earrings are supercute!

Those earings are prety -and I don’t usually like studs…But you remind me vaguely of a very coquettish french maid duster –like the one in disney’s beauty & the beast. in the best possible way.

You in NO way resemble a Picasso! The dress and earrings are gorgeous, and the faux-tail. Wish I could find one to match my unruly curly head.
