Hypebeast Is the Spawn of the Devil

February 28, 2008 by WendyB

I was clearing out some old email and noticed I never got a reply from my satanic friends at Hypebeast. I mentioned the Hypebeast forums previously when I discovered a post showing an ugly gold belt that was credited to Wendy Brandes Jewelry of London. I posted this in response:

Is there a Wendy Brandes Jewelry in London? Wendy Brandes Jewelry in New York wants to know. And who would waste that much gold on a belt, even as a publicity stunt?

The Hypebeast administrators responded by deleting the thread and banning me from the forums for being spam. I’ve tried to contact them at least three times to demand an explanation and all I get is radio silence. I’m still banned. Here’s hoping the Hypebeast assholes Google themselves and decide to use the comments here to explain why it is okay for someone to throw my name around in a spammish way and for me to be blamed for it. Money Clothing, whose name was also attached to the questionable belt, did not respond to my request for comment either.

As I’ve said before, I do know of another Wendy Brandes in New York, so it’s not like I totally ruled out the existence of a Wendy Brandes Jewelry in London. But I think the reaction to my post is a pretty good indication that something shady was going on.

On a happier note, another photo of a pair of Dewdrop Earrings has straggled in. This pair is in chalcedony.

oh that is so strange…maybe they did mean you though?

Wendy, are you planning on talking about the Housewives of NYC at all?

    Love love love chalcedony!

Do you want any of us to drop them a line, asking them what’s up? I’d be glad to!

    Those are fantastic.

Deleted and banned, that’s pretty much all they can do to you, isn’t it?

Thank you, Deirdre, but after I wrote this post, I AGAIN emailed Hypebeast. The subject line just said, “Read it.” The body of the email was a link to this. What a surprise! A fellow named Kevin wrote back instantly that he would have someone look into it. Let’s see if anything comes of it. After the Google/Technorati hell, I’m just REALLY sick of being the scapegoat for everyone’s spam problems while the real spammers get away scot-free!

This is worse than the time those jerks stole my idea to make a sequel to Weekend at Bernie’s.

WendyB – Great idea to send them the link. I’m intrigued that they’re looking into it. Those dewdrop earings are totally fantastic. I’d never heard of chalcedony till this post. Does it come in different colours?

I love the earrings, they are bit too classy for me, I like cheap chavy things that look like ghetto jewellery, but if I was going somewhere classy and wanted to make an impression, them are the earrings for me.

I bet it was the arseholes who run the sight, that where running the scam, seems a bit of an overreaction over a comment its not like you used colourful language or anything.

You have a very attractive way with words (can I say that), what I mean is the it makes me want to read more, your should right a journal and publish it, I would so read it, and this isn’t me being sycophantic in the least. I love the way you put things across.

K.Line, chrysoprase (the green stone in the other pair of Dewdrops) is a form of chalcedony. Carnelian, which is reddish, is another variety. I’ve got a chalcedony ring here:

Fashion D, that is very kind of you to say about my writing. Your comment on the earrings made me laugh! I promise you I have many other things that are much tackier 😉

I’m hoping the Wendy Brandes London thing is a front for a global conspiracy of far-reaching implications. You’ll have to wear a lot of Yves Saint Laurent, a gun in your garter and basically save the world with the help of a charmingly bumbling James MacAvoy type from MI5.

    That’s what I hope.

    Becky.

These earrings and the Lady Jane necklace are my favorites! LOVE.

Can’t wait to see how the Hypebeast fuckwits respond.

Apropos nothing, am I totally crazy, or was Heidi Klum wearing latex leggings on a recent episode of Project Runway?
