It’s That Time …

Tampon heart earring (With food coloring! Calm yourself!)

Time for Tampon Crafts! I must say thanks to Jezebel for brightening my day with this hilarious DIY site. The blowgun with tampon bandolier is impressive, but the tampon pan flute video is a must-see and -hear! The hills are alive with the sound of tampons, as the site says!

“I have a tampon gun and I’m not afraid to use it!”

Speaking of hygiene products, artist Alesha Fiandaca does some seriously beautiful tampon art that has been shown at Neuhoff Edelman Gallery in New York. I was very close to buying some of her tampon/pigment/resin flowers until I realized I didn’t have a good wall to hang them on.

Eee. Something about a faux bloody tampon earring always rubs me the wrong way. I actually pushed my chair back once your page loaded. The flowers are pretty though!

The tampon art reminds me so much of the Dan Clowes Ghost World comic where the girl brings in a tampon in a teacup.

Love the Ode To Joy! She’s got to do somthin’ with those leftovers since she ain’t usin’ them anymore!

How come condoms are given away and Viagra is covered by health insurance plans but women have to pay for tampons??
    How come they aren’t FREE?!

I think if all women went on a tampon strike and just bled our way around supermarkets, movie theatres and offices around the country then tampons would bloody well be GIVEN to us like they should be!

I’ve always thought tampons were great – i don’t know what I’d do without them! But it never crossed my mind to use them in crafts. That’s just brilliant.

I can’t say that I didn’t cringe, but I love this idea much more than I should. Not that I would actually wear it, it’s just that it’s so creative!

wow nothing seems to dampen some peoples creativity…for a second when i saw the tampon earring i thought it was one of your creations made to look like a bloody tampon and i was more than a bit concerned as to were your aspirations for your jewelry were headed…but it’s all good…i can take a deep breathe now!
