Stacy Lomman: Off to a Great (Kick)Start

September 14, 2010 by WendyB

Here’s my favorite photo from gorgeous blogger Stacy Lomman‘s debut fashion show: Stacy taking her end-of-show bow with a TALL runway model.

A star is born! (And, yes, the model is wearing my Cleopatra earrings in silver.)

Stacy financed her show through crowdfunding site Kickstarter. I read about Kickstarter in the spring when four programmers used it to raise funds for Diaspora, a privacy-conscious alternative to Facebook. Their goal was to raise $10,000; they got more than $200,000. That was a memorable factoid, so when Stacy said she wanted to do her own show, I suggested Kickstarter. Her initial fundraising goal was $6,000, and she got nearly $12,000 (every last penny was needed and spent!).

Stacy hard at work on my dining-room table. The table got its own "thank you" in her program.

Among the opportunities available to donors was the chance to sponsor a dress. Here’s the sketch of the WendyB dress.

WendyB sketch and swatches.

Here’s the dress on the runway last night.

Thanks to everyone who supported Stacy and attended the show. Attendees included Stacy‘s fellow bloggers Jennine of The Coveted; Catie of Cuffington; Poochie of Shoe Daydreams; Celine the Shoe Girl and her sister; Tricia and Craig the Intern from Fashion Herald; Alyssa and Vyque of Fasshonaburu; Suzanne of Idee Fixe; Tony of Post.Fashionism; and Amy of Midtown Girl.

Bloggers waiting for the Stacy Lomman show to start.
