A friend recently turned me on to the awesomely funkadelic and fashion-forward Betty Davis. I was going to blog about her but what do you know…Afrobella beat me to it. Download recommendation: “He Was a Big Freak.” Interestingly, Afrobella’s post quotes from a Betty interview in which Betty mentions Jim Hendrix supergroupie Devon Wilson, who has long been on my inspiration list for my It Girls collection.
I love Betty Davis! God, she was beautiful and so fierce, right? I read about her a couple of months ago and it’s so sad where she’s at now. She was basically taken advantage of by the record companies—not a new story, I know—but she seems to be making a comeback in the “hip” circles. I hope she does.
I hope so too…oh, and I meant to especially point out her FIERCE booties in that picture!
I’ve heard a lot about Betty Davis recently. Dazed and Confused did an article about her in a recent issues. I think Betty Davis is going to have her fame now. . . kind of like Arthur Russell (please, please, please check him out, if you haven’t. . . he is AMAZING)

I’m going to purchase the Betty Davis albulm this weekend. I can not wait to listen to her music.
