My right-hand woman Eryn Patton designed a sign featuring Purrkoy the Kitten for this weekend’s protests, and — due to popular demand — I’m sharing it! Click to download it for free: PurrkoyThePussy
Purrkoy, aka PK or #babycat, is an Exotic Shorthair kitteh who was named after Anne Boleyn’s dog. (The dog’s name was Purkoy, so we made it cat-worthy by adding an extra “R.”) He’s an adorable devil-cat who lives with FitzRoy, another Exotic Shorthair with a Tudor-inspired name. FitzRoy’s special talent is sitting in a large orange bowl.
PK prefers sitting the bathroom sink. It’s a great location for singing the song of his people in the wee hours of the morning.
Purrkoy also knows a thing or two about resistance. In fact, the photo we used for the sign was taken while he was resisting a mani/pedi at the vet.
I knew I’d turn that photo into art eventually!
On a serious note, please remember that anything that looks like a weapon is forbidden at protests, including pointy wooden sticks for carrying signs. You can create sign posts out of sturdy cardboard or just hold the sign in your hands. There are also strict rules on the size and type of bag you can bring, so make sure you review those. The FAQ for the D.C. march is here. Information on sister marches can be found here.
Finally, if cats aren’t your thing, the artists at Dome Collective have provided sophisticated-looking free protest art here.
