Here’s a “What Wendy Wore” outfit for each month of 2014. Click the photos for the original posts.
I love vintage clothes, so I wore a Spring 1992 Versace dress to my New Year’s party. I last wore it to ring in the year 2008.
A few weeks ago, I discovered this little photo of me trying on the dress for the first time at Decades in Los Angeles in 2007.
A vintage dress that I wear more frequently is my bow-covered Patrick Kelly. This February, I wore it to the Columbia Daily Spectator’s annual fundraising dinner. Katie Couric was our special guest that night.
I wore a purple velvet Zang Toi gown to the Vanity Fair Oscar party in March. I took some good outfit photos of the dress, but I prefer this one, where MrB and I are sneaking by actress Paula Patton. In April, I wore one of my all-time favorite vintage dresses — my Patrick Kelly leopard gown — to the opening of the Philadelphia Museum of Art’s Patrick Kelly exhibit. On the way to Philly, we stopped at McDonalds.
This doesn’t exactly count as something I wore because I was just trying it on, but I’ve really come to love the ruffled Zang Toi gown I modeled in May in Zang’s showroom.
Okay, June’s photo of these denim overalls was just a try-on too, but the mullet hairdo is really mine!
I hadn’t worn this neon Versace dress in years, so I was excited to wear it in Greece this summer. My little dog friend, Irma, kept trying to nibble the hem. This dress has a history of attracting canines.
That New Year’s Eve Versace clearly inspired me to make a real effort to wear pieces that I hadn’t worn in a long time. I chose this vintage Marie France dress for a party in August with that in mind; I last wore it in 2006!
I always wear a Zang Toi dress to Zang’s fashion shows. In September, I wore a dress from his Spring 2010 collection.
I borrowed a top hat from my designing friend Stacy Lomman for a Halloween outfit, and I loved it so much …
… that I got a fancier top hat and wore it with a vintage Donald Brooks dress to the Committee to Protect Journalists annual dinner in November. Bonus fashion factoid: I wore the same dress to the same event in November 2004!
This month, I wore another vintage Donald Brooks dress to dinner at Narcissa. I first wore this dress in December 2008 after some major alterations were done.
I’m planning to wear another old dress for New Year’s Eve … what are you going to wear?

I love how you wear your dresses again! I always liked the idea of finding a great dress and wearing it time and again.
There was a dress I used to wear before Zeus was born, every Christmas morning. I thought you’d appreciate that I wore it this Christmas morning. The dress is over 20 years old and fits again, so I am really happy I kept it!
Happy New Year!

I’m so happy you kept that dress! And I’m so happy to read “Zeus” again — haven’t thought of that in a while! LOL!
