Strike My Pose, There’s Nothing to It! VOGUE!

January 27, 2011 by WendyB

Earlier this week, I wrote about bitches stealing my trademark crossed-leg pose. Gorgeous blogger of Erin of Work With What You’ve Got commented, “I kind of want to do a tribute pose now, but I’m afraid you’ll rip out my weave!” I was so delighted by the idea of a blogger pose-off that I promised to leave all weaves intact and my fighting earrings safely in my lobes. I encouraged all the wimmins to go for the full-on pose: in addition to the crossed legs, you need hand(s) on hips and a big smile to do the complete WendyB.

You get to vote for the Wendy-est of them all! Let’s take a look at our contenders.

Erin is showing excellent hand and leg placement! We’re going to have to deduct a few points for the non-toothy smile but the use of leopard print is an important redeeming factor.

Erin works some leopard print into her pose. Smart move, Erin.

Sal is doing fabulous work here. Note the two-handed pose, red lips and toothy smile.

Sal from Already Pretty works the two-handed look.

Liz makes the pose her own by eschewing the hands-on-hip action in favor of romantic long-stemmed roses. Different, but I like it.

Liz from Vintage-a-Peel.

Emma went for a variation of my standard pose. Impressive take on my “holding up the wall” look, Emma!

Emma from Daily Clothes Fix holds up the wall.

WendyB holds up a wall on Dec. 31, 2008.

Siouxsie Law won’t show her face but assures me that she was wearing red lipstick when this was taken.

Siouxsie Law is shy.

Mariel combines my stance with the controversial fashion blogger “look away!” look.

Mariel of Preppy With a Twist

Let’s take a moment to admire Pearl Westwood’s perfect Chrissie Hynde bangs! I wanted those when I was in high school.

Pearl Westwood does it with one hand.

Um, Jentine? This is not right! Where’s your smile? I’m not sure this counts …

Jentine from MyEdit says, "Je suis une fashion blogger and I rock that coy side glance!"

Oh, wait! Jentine has redeemed herself!

A smile plus TWO animal prints? Bravo, Jentine!

Lenya Jones has got it going on. Smile, legs, hands. Nice job, Lenya.

Lenya's dress is by Maharishi and her shoes are by Cole Haan.

While you ponder your options, enjoy Madonna’s exquisite performance of Vogue from the 1990 MTV VMAs. Love the costumes. And the fan flip? To die for!

Are you working on a new stance? Now that yours has become so – commercialized –

What about standing on one leg. Has that been done?

Your commentary…so funny! My controversial fashion blogger “look away” look. Hah! Gets me every time. Let’s face it, though, there’s no way I can compete with Jentine’s animal prints. She gets my vote.

This is HIGH-larious. I love seeing everyone’s poses and wish I had caught your blog so I could have participated. I know I would have got the toothy grin thing down cold.

    I’m now following you!

Wow, love all these looks. What a fantastic influence you have had. I love that we all get critiqued by the master. Sorry for stealing another pose!

I think in return you should visit other people’s blogs and recreate your favourite pose from each of them. Time to get your own back, eh?
