Wishful Thinking: Compact Disk

July 25, 2010 by WendyB

I’ve developed a passion for sprucing up the interior of my purses. It started with a purple wallet in 2008.A  Since then I’ve added a blue business card case, a red datebook and a yellow iPhone case. My next goal is to find a nice compact with a mirror to replace the Hello Kitty mirror that I got in Japan in 2002. So, if I had $750 to spend on something crazy, unnecessary and delightful, I’d buy this vintage compact shaped like a vinyl record from Modern Handbag.

Click for more info.

Another view.

How about you all chip in and buy it for me as a gift? It’s so much less expensive than the Dali compact from Modern Handbag that I previously asked for!

I can’t afford to buy you the compact but can I just send you one of the mini disks my camcorder uses? You can use your imagination and be all like “I’m so bad-ass.”

You’re so good for finding a lower-priced item for us to get for you!

    🙂

My friend had a vintage compact that was given to her by her grandmother. I bet you could find a really great ’70s one or deco one in a shop in NY, if you’re into that kind of thing.

I like where you’re going with this. Everything in my purse is black, including the lining, and about once a week it sends me into a panic that I’ve lost my wallet. If no one comes through for you on the compact, you could make your own by gluing a mirror to the back of an actual record. Big accessories are hot! Think Flava flav.

That is so cute! I once saw a tutorial for a purse made out of records, I sort of wish I remember how it went now.
