Non-Outfit Post: White Leather Jacket

April 30, 2010 by WendyB

I meant to take an outfit photo yesterday while I was wearing my 1990s white leather peacoat, but it didn’t happen.

Instead, let’s all admire this 1980s white leather jacket by Chrome Hearts that I saw on 1stdibs.com.

The front view is good ...

... but the Stones logo on the back is mind-blowing. Click to see on 1stdibs.com

When I was in high school in the ’80s, denim jackets with band logos painted on the back were popular. I want that look to come back!

    Stop lying… you weren’t in high school in the 80’s. 90’s maybe…

All that logo needs is a giant gap and its Georgia! Between that thought and the “True Blood” promo, I’m going to have fang-mares…

When I was in New Zealand last February I saw an usually large amount of people wearing Black Sabbath T’s. It was surreal.

As close as I ever had to a jacket like that was a jean jacket with Beatlemania embroidered on the back. Okay, that wasn’t even close. My jacket was lame. Your jacket is awesome.

I must admit, that jacket IS kind of kick ass… I’m craving the perfect leather jacket actually. Just the right amount of badass and feminine at the same time, preferably buttery soft and a little distressed looking. Like me in a room full of devout Mormons. Like a really sexy lady biker only better. But I’m still digging this white jacket.

Really I was always a vintage fitted suede jacket girl, but one needs variety, no? 🙂

Glad I am not the only fashion blogger who was at high school in the nineties. They say that you should avaoid trends that you remember first time round, could make an exception for this jacket though.

You’ve reminded me that my sister painted the Aerosmith logo on the back of her denim jacket. My mother was appalled whenever she wore it to church on Sunday.

Count me in on the trend. I only have a few band tshirts, I used to have a lot more. I need to go to more shows!

You should so bring back that style! I think I’d go with something a little more subtle on mine though…maybe a small design on the back shoulder to start 😉

A few weeks ago I saw a denim jacket with Pikachu on the back at a thrift store. I am now convinced I should have bought it.

    The back makes that jacket.
Also, your mother was gorgeous! But I don’t think it counts as a baby pic…you should post another. 😉

Mr TNMA is a massive Stones fan – he has a leather jacket called ‘Night Mission’ that Keith Richards wore in the eighties, which he saves for special occasions!

PS check out the quote from Keith Richards on my latest blog post)

Those Stones-style jackets were huge when I was in high school, too. So were the black concert t-shirts with the outsized mouths on the fronts.

Wendy, that must be done. The jean jacket with the band patch on the back is such a marker of my ‘rebel’ phase (which wasn’t very rebellious at all). I am too embarrassed to tell you what I had when I was 14, but let’s just say that my grandmother said to me in her French Canadian accent ‘I guess it’s ok you can’t see your back when you wear that jacket’. I shocked a lot of old people with that thing.

Who would you offer a revival to on a jean jacket?

This is too cool for school! You know, I painted so many jean jkts. in High School, but nothing w/ the Rolling Stones. How strange since they were/are such a MEGA band. Oh, and 3 shouts for white leather… hip, hip, hooray!!
