White, Green and Purple All Over

July 8, 2008 by WendyB

I’m loving green and purple together, so two vintage Emma Domb dresses have caught my eye.

$600 at C Madeleine’s

245 pounds at Vintage-a-Peel

Emma Domb was a dressmaking company that was around through the ’70s. There are usually lots of good Emma Dombs on eBay, but that Vintage-a-Peel dress is the most interesting example I’ve seen.

The butter yellow with purple is a fantastic combination. It’s so beach house in the hamptons!

Actually I love both these dresses, they perfectly represent my fashion obsessions: the 50s style and the late 70s Stdio 54 vibe!
Sadly I don’t have any clue about you don’t get me on Google Reader… 🙁

OoooooOOOh! Love Emma Domb! And these are so different from the ones I find. Usually there are more diaphanous and drapey.

My newest dress is green and purple! I think it has another couple of colours two, but those are predominant.

Obviously, great minds. I’m using that theory so much today, it’s super flattering.

I had a dress just like the first one in high school. I got it at a thrift store and wore it with combat boots.

The second dress is lovely. Now that I’m a grown up, I’d wear it with some little silver Greek sandles.

The second Emma Dombs dress just reminds me exactly why vintage pieces are so popular! I can easily imagine wearing it to a posh garden party (Not that i tend to frequent posh garden parties!)

I love the Vintage-a-peel dress. The colors immediately made me feel nostalgic (sorry Diana V) because they remind me of my grade 9 (I know) graduation ceremony dress: white lawn with tiny purple flowers and green leaves. I can almost taste it.

Sometimes when you post dresses, I think they are very pretty but I probably wouldn’t wear them. These two, however, I LOVE. Beautiful finds Wendy. Did you buy either of them?

IYF, the first one is “been there, done that” for me, but I have been pondering the second one for a long time. I have to check the measurements again.
