Seen at Bergdorfs: Crazy Junya Watanabe Jacket

February 23, 2012 by WendyB

My gorgeous friend Debra and I visited Bergdorf Goodman to do some research for our respective jobs. (Really!) While we were there, I spotted a wild and crazy “motorcycle” jacket by Junya Watanabe: bright blue, ultra-cropped, belted under the bosom, with an explosion of ruffles on the shoulders. We spent a few minutes saying, “What IS this?” because we thought it was part of a dress. Once we figured out the jacket was a separate piece, we had a sales associate take it off a mannequin so we could try it on.

It certainly livens up my everyday black t-shirt.

Pink and blue look great on Debra!

Who would buy such a crazy jacket? Hmmmm …. I wonder.

Why don’t they call that insect “flutter-by” instead? It makes a lot more sense!

Still laughing! I have 2 Gautier shortly cropped ‘Bomber Jackets’, and when I wear them ( yes I still do ) people often ask “what happened to the rest of your jacket” ?

Maybe there’s something wrong with me, but the more I look at this, the more I’m like “…it’s kind of superhero amazing.”

I think she should get it. It works perfectly with her proportions and that dress.
