The WendyB Pose-Off Results and More Posers

February 7, 2011 by WendyB

According to your votes, fashion-loving stylist Lenya Jones won last month’s “pose like WendyB” contest. Congrats, Lenya! No prizes were promised beyond bragging rights — and those are priceless, of course — but I feel like that’s a little bit of a letdown. So I hereby offer Lenya free shipping on her next jewelry purchase.

I must ask for a round of applause for Siouxsie Law, who came in second even though she submitted a headless picture. You know you’re a fierce poser if you can do that well without a face!

Some gorgeous bloggers posed too late for the contest, but I still want to share their photos.

Megan Mae used every weapon in my posing arsenal: the crossed legs, both arms, lipstick and teeth.

Click for Megan Mae's post.

Like Megan Mae, BonBon Rose Girl Kristin wore red for her pose. A good choice! Red is my favorite color. Unless we can count “leopard” as a color. In that case, red is my second favorite.

Sheila of Ephemera has a BIG smile going on here.

Kasmira of What I Wore Today gets extra credit for leopard.

Kasmira does the pose with leopard. Can't go wrong with that.

Lei Ann of Lei Ann … Off Duty skipped the smile but her form is very good, don’t you agree?

Click for Lei Ann's post.

Celebrities are getting in on the WendyB pose action too. Jacquelyn Joy spotted supermodel Iman doing my pose on Go Fug Yourself.

Gorgeous blogger Deja Pseu pointed out singer/actress Jennifer Hudson’s WendyB stance. Jennifer wins the celebrity division — look at her tense, high-up shoulder! That’s perfect! People attempting to take my picture are always telling me to relax my shoulder(s). Now I’m going to say that my shoulders are simply emulating Jennifer’s.

Even drawings are getting into my pose. Multi-talented artist Max Dana drew her observing eye character, Da-Eye, doing the WendyB.

I love the attention paid to the foot perspective.

Here’s the picture that started the whole “I only have one pose” conversation with my father, GeorgeB. It was extremely difficult to achieve this much motion. Dad kept saying, “Move!” and I kept saying, “I can only do my regular pose!” We finally got something usable, after we gave up on managing the shoulder.

Keep sending me pictures of yourselves doing my pose, and I’ll do a round-up every so often. Don’t forget to raise those shoulders!

UPDATED TO ADD ONE MORE STRAGGLER: Here’s Audi from Fashion for Nerds. Nice job, Audi!

I love the pose pictures. I tried to practice it myself but as I am so unco-ordinated I almost ruptured something, I think it was my pride.

It’s been really interesting to see other bloggers do the WendyB pose–no two are exactly alike even the pose is essentially the same. Here’s to diversity!

    Dear Wends

I just got my mitts on a lovely book called New York Parties Private Views and there on page 62 is a chapter about your pal Zang Toi. Was hoping to see you on one of the pages. His apartment is divine.

I am truly honored to be named runner-up. Though my success probably has more to do with your gothiness than my fierce headless-torso pose.

I am SO LOVING the new pose! It’s so Hollywood, the raised shoulder, the naughty look back. Oh, and the windswept skirt. Was this for a magazine shoot?!?

The “WendyB” pose has gone viral!

What a great contest! I love that celebs are stealing your front-on pose. But that beach one with the swirling maxi skirt is my favorite.

    February 8, 2011 at 1:50 pm

Your pose is inviolable – in your last pic, your ankles are still crossed, your lips are red and smiling, and your shoulder is up. The pose can twirl, the pose can look coyly over its shoulder, but the pose can not be defeated!
