Mr. Blackwell, Part III

December 21, 2008 by WendyB

I’ve written about cool-fashion-designer-turned-really-annoying-fashion-critic Mr. Blackwell before (here and here). I just found another example of his work from the pre-annoying days. Check out this classic, strapless black dress.

It’s available for $135 at Viva Vintage Clothing.

It’s lovely but I’m praying that the person who buys it WON’T wear it to a holiday party.

That’s a beautiful, classic dress. I love the way he did the bodice.

KD, I agree — I almost felt like I should say something like that in the post, lest anyone think I was suddenly a huge fan of the unadorned LBD for special occasions. I’d wear it to a very ordinary night out for drinks/dinner, not for a night when I needed to make a statement.

K.Line, some queens just go bad! 🙂

ENC, the bodice reminds me of a vintage dress that Winona Ryder wore once, but I was too lazy to search for a picture.

I’d wear it and I’d wear it so badly I’d get on his list, that should annoy him.

Definitely an interesting silhouette. The LBD could always use an update.

It’s great. I’m looking for a classic black dress too, they’re very useful.

PS: I have initiated an idea to create a fashion and style blogroll where bloggers from the jewelry, fashion, style and beauty could participate.
All you need to do is to add my blog link to your blog and i’ll do the same.
That way, we could have a mutual partnership and we could refer visitors to each other’s blog.
Please let me know if you would be interested.

    Thanks!

Great find Wendy. I have two Blackwell dresses that I don’t fit into but can’t seem to part with. If you’re good, maybe I’ll send you some pics ; *
